UPDATE 1/31/21 with statement from Nissan Communications Manager, @Dan_Passe [link to post]:
Product specialist from Nissan said 30k base twice in this video from the Houston auto show:
She mentions 30k base price twice.
First time at the 3:05 mark
Second time at 4:58 mark
Not sure if she's for real
Show us how sorry you are. Starting price of 6-spd performance trim, when Savage Geese will review the car in depth, and when available. Oh, and "no mark ups allowed." If not, it's a "sorry not sorry" moment. We apologize but this was an error on behalf of the spokesperson. The base price of the 2023 will be around $40,000, as previously reported.
Again, we are very sorry.
He shouldn't be sorry, He is just polite by saying that.Show us how sorry you are. Starting price of 6-spd performance trim, when Savage Geese will review the car in depth, and when available. Oh, and "no mark ups allowed." If not, it's a "sorry not sorry" moment.

In the US there are zero consumer protections for dealers marking up cars. Nissan can't do little more than shame them without risking a potentially lucrative corporate partnership.Oh, and "no mark ups allowed." If not, it's a "sorry not sorry" moment.
They could. They could take the ordering off them, and do it online…delivery to the dealer with a small amount …say a $1000-2 delivery fee.In the US there are zero consumer protections for dealers marking up cars. Except Direct Sales by a manufacturer are against the law in almost all US states. They could. They could take the ordering off them, and do it online…delivery to the dealer with a small amount …say a $1000-2 delivery fee.
Are you talking about automotive? Pretty sure I can buy an iPhone directly from Apple..Except Direct Sales by a manufacturer are against the law in almost all US states.
You can thank generous political contributions to State legislators by dealership groups for that.
Rivian is pushing for legislation here in Georgia which would allow direct sales. BUT, the proposed bill would only apply to EV's, not traditional ICE cars. Of course, the dealership lobby is vehemently opposed to this.Except Direct Sales by a manufacturer are against the law in almost all US states.
