$40k is still not bad...$55k is pushing it, but if the reliability is there (no oil consumption, low maintenance costs) then could def be worth it. This is comparing against Supra, M2,...Again, assuming little to no ADMs, but that's seemingly impossible right now. Quick glance...Toyota dealer closest to me is selling 2022 Supra (MSRP $62k) for $82K. Wild..

I’m going to riot if this thing isn’t in my garage soon. I haven’t had a car in 6 months waiting on this thing. Having to drive the wife’s Subaru SUV feels shameful.
at least you got a car, I sold mine and I have to take Uber everywhere LOL

Give this woman a beer/wine!!! I think it really shows how much Nissan is playing around with their price across their departments. It's likely not this women's fault, but likely the indecisiveness of the executive offices on profit margin.

And the alleged "leaked brochure" to dealer has no MSRP really show that they are still playing around with the numbers.

And the other thing that stands out is @Dan_Passe is lightning quick to response to this compare to his other involvements in this forum. If he make major judgement of pricing based on this forum, I don't think his company will be successful. I think most ppl that buy Nissan Z are not and will not be on this forum.
UPDATE 1/31/21 with statement from Nissan Communications Manager, @Dan_Passe [link to post]:

Product specialist from Nissan said 30k base twice in this video from the Houston auto show:

She mentions 30k base price twice.
First time at the 3:05 mark
Second time at 4:58 mark

Not sure if she's for real

We apologize but this was an error on behalf of the spokesperson. The base price of the 2023 will be around $40,000, as previously reported.

Again, we are very sorry.
Show us how sorry you are. Starting price of 6-spd performance trim, when Savage Geese will review the car in depth, and when available. Oh, and "no mark ups allowed." If not, it's a "sorry not sorry" moment.

:)

He shouldn't be sorry, He is just polite by saying that.

In the US there are zero consumer protections for dealers marking up cars. Nissan can't do little more than shame them without risking a potentially lucrative corporate partnership.

They could. They could take the ordering off them, and do it online…delivery to the dealer with a small amount …say a $1000-2 delivery fee.

Except Direct Sales by a manufacturer are against the law in almost all US states.

You can thank generous political contributions to State legislators by dealership groups for that.

Rivian is pushing for legislation here in Georgia which would allow direct sales. BUT, the proposed bill would only apply to EV's, not traditional ICE cars. Of course, the dealership lobby is vehemently opposed to this.
