Autolight set to Auto,

What am I doing incorrect ??

Question #2. Previous Nissan Maxima oil changes were every 3,000 miles

Congrats on the Z! I'm not sure you're doing anything wrong with respect to the headlights. I'm not sure the car is designed to turn the headlights on if the wipers are running, although this would be convenient in California since, by law, you must turn your headlights on if your wipers are on.

There are a couple of good threads on oil-change interval. You'll find that opinion varies by forum member.

Here in Minnesota, headlights are supposed to be on if it's raining, but enforcement has nothing to do with windshield wipers...it's generally left to police officer's discretion.

There's no connection between windshield wiper switch and headlights in any Z I've ever owned, nor in my wife's Muranos.

Autolights mean they automatically turn on when it gets dark.
Not with wiper. Your owner's manual explains this along with other features.

Make sure your lights are on at night.
Not just the DRLs like many Nissan/Honda drivers on the road.

Some cars automatically turn on the lights when the wipers are activated when the lights are set to auto mode as well. It does it in my Ford, I haven't driven my Z in the rain yet to find out if they click on when the wipers are active. In my Ford, I don't think they come on during low speed/delay. Only when my wipers are on speed 2

I did my first oil change at 2.2k miles, will probably go 4k for the next one and then 7k from there on. 10k is whack, i don't care what the manual says. We're not driving altimas.

Yep still old tech everywhere in the RZ34, which could be a good thing for some, less complications and issues.
