here is something I was thinking about that puts the weight into context

the NISMO is 218 lbs heavier than a manual sport model. its only 185 lbs lighter than my AWD GTR NISMO.
That makes it sound like an absolute pig lol.

When I translated the japanese press release last night the designer stated that manual is still on the table for the NISMO if customers want it. I assume it'll be added in a future model year to keep things new and fresh.
I hope that's true because social media is lighting up over the "auto only". ?

I think styling wise it's okay. I'm not upset about it at all. Wheels, tires, aero all pretty good. The weight gain is kind of confusing. Figured the seats alone would shave a few pounds. But, the added "bracing" probably beefs it up a bit. Basically a fairly mild bolt on "build". Intake/Exhaust, wheels/tires, springs and sway's.

The honestly downside for me is the auto only option. To me, that doesn't make any sense. As an enthusiast car, you'd think they'd just offer the choice. And in Canada, the auto option already adds an additional cost over the manual (unlike the US) so, this on top of a Nismo premium. The car will be a needle in a haystack, and priced out of the market. I know, I know. A lot of people out there are like, it's 2023 autos are faster than manuals now, blah blah. I know that. They're quick. But, if I'm spending that kind of money on a play toy/weekend car/seasonal driver. 6-7 months of the year I drive an Auto. I want something that feels completely different and more engaging, to really make that driving season feel a bit special. But, that's just my personal preference.

We all remember when the A90 Supra came out....with Auto only. Ouch, doesn't Nissan ever learn??? The transmission is already here, is it not strong enough to handle at least 20 hp? Just don't get it. I would be in the market still if the manual is offered.

Nissan is seriously copying Toyota at this point.

Toyota releases the manual version of the Supra with a new color and sure enough, the Nismo Z is revealed shortly after with a very similar color.

Then Nissan goes and announces that orange is going to be a 2024 color. Didnt Toyota just do the same thing for the Supra?
