Nope its not fake news unfortunately. Alot of people here are scared into submisson by their government, so they are usually brainwashed into believing everything the government does is for our "safety"

No not fake news…but one point. It’s not voluntary, it is mandatory…no one has ever said it is voluntarily.

It is a condition when coming into the country that you do 2 weeks quarantine.
It started off as home quarantine but too many people kept going out to crowded places when they should have been home.
It should be noted that this facility in this clip, is used mostly for a detention centres for illegal immigrants. It is located in the Northern Territory, one of the smallest and most remote “states”. All other states have used hotels for quarantine purposes, but it is true that it’s mandatory and you pay the hotel bill.

There’s much happening in Aus at present, people don’t realise just how big of a country ( size wise) and how much power each state holds.
So, the two biggest and most well know states NSW ( Sydney) and Vic ( Melbourne) have now just started international flights again, QLD ( Brisbane) are opening their borders in two weeks. It is still required to be double vaccinated, a covid free test and to isolate for three days at home on arrival ( the three day part got re introduced with omnicron, but may disappear again once they figure out it’s not bad)

Then you have SA who are pretty open, ACT open, and the two most constricted states/ territories being Tasmania and WA ( Perth).
I live in Perth. We are not permitted to travel outside our state…well you are but then you won’t be allowed home.
The state premier has mandated 75% of the workforce to get the vaccine, and he refuses to open the borders until we are at least 90% double vaccinated…and this is why these two detainees were tracked down so quickly…because NT and WA share a border and they crossed it.
Quite a few states in Aus are back to travelling again…god knows how long it will be till we get out.

To understand how this happened is easy. WA had a state election just before covid took off. The premier won in a landslide…I’m talking 90% of voters voted him in and the opposition was pretty much wiped out. This means he can do pretty much what he wants and get away with it, because there are very few seats in our parliament that belong to other parties to allow them to block things.
I’m proud to say I did not vote for him.

The tide is turning, huge protests, large companies being taken to court and being overruled on the mandates …saying that it is unlawful to force vaccinations ( not that it’s the companies fault they are just following orders) I’m sure more will follow, as if it’s unlawful and forced people will start to sue companies if they have any adverse reactions. As I said some states have said, enough enough and are getting on with things.

We have a federal election in May….if I had to guess, I think that’s when WA will open. You see the majority are scared, and they support the premiers decision. The premier belongs to the opposite party to our current prime minister. At present WA has 0 covid, so he’ll try and keep it that way to earn brownie points for the federal election…once over we will be free to travel again…I’d almost bet my house on it

We have just lost a couple of sporting events that bring in a stack of money as they refuse to do the two week quarantine…I’m glad. I hope we lose a few more and he realises that we need the money and opens sooner.

The biggest issue is our hospitals, already not coping with 0 virus in the state

When I lived in China, two of my very good friends were Australian expats. These 2 dudes were crazy, the stories they had from the 70's and 80's, stealing cars, running from the cops, doing time in jail.... Gave me the impression that Australians are some really exciting people.
My only other experience about Australians was "Crocodile Dundee".
So, when I see these stories of police-state Australia I can hardly believe. The Australians I know would never tolerate being locked-up.

I guess the times have changed! (Or I had a really skewed misconception of Australia!)

When I lived in China, two of my very good friends were Australian expats. These 2 dudes were crazy, the stories they had from the 70's and 80's, stealing cars, running from the cops, doing time in jail.... Gave me the impression that Australians are some really exciting people.
My only other experience about Australians was "Crocodile Dundee".
So, when I see these stories of police-state Australia I can hardly believe. The Australians I know would never tolerate being locked-up.

I guess the times have changed! (Or I had a really skewed misconception of Australia!)

There are still crazy tough people out in the suburbs, but in the big cities here, the people are no different than people from New York etc.

But as I said there are massive protests every weekend, and things are changing …just not in my state yet.

People eventually want to be able to live. I remember back when they had to tell us it’ll only be 2 weeks, just to prevent the mass rioting of a shut down… 2 years later with no end in sight.
