OBD readers are a dime a dozen…

I’m using PLM’s KIWI for my taco w/ OBD fusion app w/ CarPlay. I think they have their own app now. it’s good for the Z as well. I used it on my G37 as well.

But if i was buying a new one for the z, i would look at vx diag, - this one is compatible with Nissan’s consult III+ and you can change stuff.

ecutek phone app is also a good choice for changes and setting up a dash board to monitor sensors - lol. You can just buy the ecutek BT module and use it as a generic OBD code reader - if you ever decided to tune you car, you just need to buy license and pay a tuner for their tune.

Thanks for the detailed response! I have Autel scan tools, as well as OBD2 plug in modules (one for my VW and one for my BMW). But not sure how I can set up my Nismo to give an audible warning for low oil pressure or high oil temperature. At least for the oil temp, I have a gauge. But for oil pressure, the only thing I have is the dummy light, in the case where the oil pressure drops to a preset minimum. I'm sure if that light comes on, it's probably too late, especially during track driving, lol.
If it's possible, can you explain how I can set it up. and the parts/apps I need to buy, where I can set a low pressure alert with a PSI of my choice, and have a chime alert me? If that's possible, please explain it to me like I'm 6 years old. I have plenty of experience working on cars, but have a little experience mixing and matching dongles with software to get the result I wanted. (I have used them on my GTI and BMW with success. But, I just bought exactly what I was told worked properly, and it was easy). Thanks again!

I finally decided to remove my Z1 3-point brace today in favor of the Blitz brace. The Z1 brace introduced near non-stop knocking sounds in the cabin. I’ll be selling the Z1 brace if anyone is interested.

I’m in love with Blitz brace. It looks very basic in pics but the fitment is outstanding, way more room between it and the cover, and no more knocking!

Got one box drilled. Outside came out clean. the dimples are just dep enough to perfectly center the drill bit. Lots of cleanup/deburring on the inside. I’ve done a little. A little being at least 30 min. Probably don’t need baby’s-butt-smooth anyway.

Did the induction noise with the holes drilled out increase a lot or just a little? Also what size of drill bit did you use?

Can’t remember who, and I don’t believe there were pics, but someone here said they used a drill bit the same size as the little dimples opposite the NISMO logo and drilled all of those spots out.

I was just curious if the drilled holes made it sound the same without the boxes on. Although I’m into stuff like that with scale modeling and I’m used to using pin vises to drill stuff out, this would be incredibly easy, but seeing traska_rz34’s work is insanely sweet

I forget the exact size drill but the noise difference was substantially louder with the holes. Without them, it was silent.

I have the kiwi3 w/ the OBD fusion app - purchased ~10 years ago for my taco just to access the tranny temps to set the fill level. At the time OBD fusion offered access to the tranny temps - had to buy the toyota non-standard obd2 codes for extra $10 (add-on for OBD fusion), now it’s $15. I looked for nissan‘s package and it’s listed as 2021. The cool thing is that ODB fusion keeps my add-on code package updated for no charge for the last 10yrs.

but looks like kiwi has their own software along with maintaining compatibility with many others - these are listed on there web site.

i have not setup anything for audio - but the kiwi 4 has audio alerts built into the module so you would not need your phone for for the alert. No idea how this works - but I’m sure there is a video…
