Fair, fair. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that all got tossed out, or at least aggressively modified due to the pandemic. It seems like at this point, manufacturers are just trying to keep up and build what they can. when they can. Both of the timings for these cars (the Z, Spring 2022 & Ariya, late Fall 2022) were announced in the midst of all this, so I'm inclined to believe that until (and sincerely hope not) we hear otherwise.

And, considering we've seen quite a few test mules out and about lately, like you said, I'd hope we're still on for spring?
I hope so too.
But there's been a lot of "hope" going around for the last decade and I no longer think it means anything.

The Ariya was supposed to be released mid-2021, which would have allowed the Z to be after the Ariya whilst still being a 2022 model year.

My worry is based on the pre-pandemic Nissan "A to Z" campaign where people were saying the Airya, due in 2021, was to be before the Z. A before Z.
Now, we see finished, production-ready Z's driving around, the Airya is still "vaporware" TBH, so does that mean Nissan is going to allow "Z before A"?
Even in Australia we were told December 2021 for the Z. Then they admitted most likely won’t be till first half of next year. Now the promo/ order material states August 2022 ….if it gets pushed back any further people will just lose interest.
To be honest it’s mid November, I was hoping we would of heard more in regards to price etc by now if it was coming in Spring (US)
It’s starting to get a tad concerning.

I agree, and I'm wondering if we will hear soon - I know this is the US newsroom, however they've been on a pretty steady cadence of announcements - especially pricing - https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/channels/channel-2097

Just this month alone, they've announced pricing around 4 models, including the Ariya which we all know is way down the road. I would bet the LA Auto Show is helping to push a lot of this out, and that just started today. Runs to the 28th.

The car is there - https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/re...nter-stage-at-return-of-los-angeles-auto-show - so...maybe?

The possibility that Nissan could be intentionally delaying the Z only to keep "A before Z" doesn't sit well with me.
I have saved up enough money to buy a new vehicle, and now I'm being tempted by the new Tundra, the new GR86...and just recently my co-worker offered to sell me his wife's mint-condition 1991 CRX Si. With all these goodies floating around, and Nissan being way too coy about the new Z, I may pull the trigger on something else and delay a new Z purchase until the end of it's product cycle a few years down the road.

delaying the z further would result in more lost sales...several here have already bought something else because the wait was too long.

and if dealers jack the prices up too much, that may force others here to purchase something else....

edit: im still in the market for the z, but im very happy with my purchase...

But the Z ( the Japanese Corvette ~ Fairlady ) has been a performance alternative that even has 50th Anniversary Edition

Just like Corvette had a 50th Anniversary Edition

BRZ is still quite a few years away from its 50th Anniversary Edition

I was bored last night and requested a quote (socal area) for a premium. Dealership wanted $6k over MSRP :).
I saw a window sticker on another forum re the 2022 Civic SI. A California dealer had it listed for 44k....?

I called a few NH dealers re the BRZ yesterday and the markups ranged from 2-2.5 k.

Seems almost every car is getting a markup these days. I saw a story about cars with the lowest markups, the Jeep Compass has the lowest markups, averaging 3% above MSRP. For a Jeep Compass!

Sucks that cool, new cars are being released during the CCP pandemic.

Big C&D comparo article, now with 5-60 times: https://www.caranddriver.com/review...-n-vs-subaru-brz-toyota-gr86-vw-gti-compared/

So a nice improvement from the previous gen, but actually a tenth slower (basically tied) with the ND2 for 5-60, despite the good 1/4 mi. performance (previously noted). I'm glad they are continuing with it, but it's not really temping for me.

Very competitive numbers for sure.
I had a 2016 GTI DSG and it would trap the 1/4 at 100mph, and I found that car to be very enjoyable to drive. The fact that the 86 is at least as quick bodes well for the car, especially being a 6MT. The GTI 6MT was actually a bit slower. And I think they underrated the engine a bit too.
