Hi my friend, that black piece is rubber. It came with car. Kinda like a protective piece let's you know if you hit a low spot. Scraps very little when I come in my driveway. Its in the middle, Zilla boost helped me with his video and recommendations for these Silver coilovers. Zilla is incredible on the vr30 Z platform, love his videos. His video is on you tube with these coilovers. I had a 2008 350z touring roadster black convertible it was so much fun! This car is absolutely insane. I put Nissmo street exhaust,Nissmo cold air, Nissmo bigger radiator, Z1 hotbox, Z1 front and back control arms. Its all under warranty, 1 year and 6 months warrants is up most likely vrx60b turbos hope to get it dialed in to 650 horse

I skip alot lost my left side of brain n left ear deaf equalibrium issues, pain n depression n anxiety come n go. Had a necostic neuroma 1cm away from brain stem. 2 major brain surgeries. With theses coilovers they can adjust your settings and help you out with settings, I went with 1 inch on front, 3/4 on back. No scraping issues on grill, very little on plastic piece when I back into my garage. Good luck.
