I concur, really wanted a GT-R and test drove a couple a few years back, but...too much tech, felt heavy, and not engaging to drive, disconnected feeling. OTOH this spare car I have is way too much fun, light, zippy, splits duties with the Z for a daily. Just enough power to use all the gears thru redline without getting into trouble. :)

LOL, I understand. My ex had one. Loads of fun.

I went with Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02's about 2500 miles in...they're decent, but when the time comes to replace them I'll probably go back to Michelin PS4's or maybe try the AS.

GT-R is actually surprisingly disappointing to drive. I was convinced I wanted one until I drove a 2012 from OH to TX in 2013 and realized how boring of a car it was to drive.
I drove one on the track in Vegas, I was not nearly as impressed as I was expecting to be...I can appreciate the performance, but the driving experience was pretty bland.

I put the GT:R and a Tesla in the same boat. They're capable cars, just clinically sterile in terms of driving enjoyment.

I will say this much on the Nismo Z. It came with Dunlop track tires from the factory that are really only good for 2000-3000 miles before they get bad traction fade. When my car had under 300 miles, I took it for a conservative track outing (Talladega GP in N. AL). I was able to sustain around 1.0 g around the turns. That's about dead-on with the factory rating (which I find odd, because my Hellcat Challenger could do that).

Enter the Michelin PSAS4 (all season). Same track, last weekend. Tires have 2,000 miles.Track times were 2 seconds better and I could hold in excess of 1.1g. I still have to go back and review the track recordings, but my in-car meter showed 1.24g, and that's a little high as I was driving at the car's limits and past them a few times to see what my envelope looked like. So, the sustained G rating with these tires is likely in the 1.15 ballpark. About a 15% increase over the OEM Dunlop "track" tires.

The reason why I always sing the PS4AS praise is because they're usually better than most other brands' summer tires. And, it's no different here. There is no metric where these tires don't out-perform the OEM Dunlops. I've got better 0-60s, better lateral grip, less road noise, slightly taller sidewalls which soak up a bit more of the road bumps (which is a thing in a Nismo if you haven't tried one out). The only downside is that these things, mounted with Discount Tire's tire protection package, are a $2,000 set of tires. The up-front cost is high, but they'll last 40-60k miles. So, for me and my driving habit, that's about $500/yr in tire cost.

Well, on cars with staggered sizes like the Nismo (non-rotatable), Michelin treadwear warranties them @ 45k miles. If they don't last that long, you get a prorated discount on the next set.

My Hellcat Redeye (daily) went almost 50k miles on a set. I sold that car and it still had some life left in them. I don't see why my Z shouldn't be similar, as nothing I can do in this Z is more than what I could do in an 807hp car ;)

Yeah good luck with that warranty. I'm at 4500 miles and they're half burned up already.

Good comparison on your end. Nismo Dunlops are only 200tw vs the all-season PS4AS at 540tw, obvious the much softer tread will wear way quicker, those Dunlops are max summer. Surprised, though the PS4AS performed that well on yours being the 540tw 'hard' compound, but they should have longetivity, 40K miles should be doable.

I've been using, for street, the Conti ExtremeContact DWS 06 + on several cars and impressed also on overall all-season grip. So, it looks like the PS4AS and this are almost equally impressive, for street and some track.

That is very sad to hear. I shall look into mid engine Corvettes.
They are worth every flipping penny.

Don't buy new, you can find a 2020 for ~50ish nowadays. No drastic mechanical changes from 2020 to 2026.

Wireless AA/CP is the only thing 2020 is really "missing"....this can be fixed with a dongle you keep in the center console for <$200

I will be buying Yokohama AD09's in 2026
I hate my yokohama Advan Sports. Wet conditions make me really nervous because they like to hydroplane ( not even driving hard ). I will be replacing them before summer for Continental ecs2 or Michelin ps4s.
