If you know you know. I’m a big fan of the car care nut channel. He shares a lot of his knowledge. Ahmed is a Toyota master technician and also does a lot of reviews.

I wanted to share this video. I love my Z, and I think he’s spot on

Wow, that is a great review. It's nice to see someone appreciating what the Z is, and not bashing it for what it was never intended to be.

I was going to share this video but forgot.
He did a great job. Not only is he a mechanic but, a self-declared Supra guy. So, his input is very valuable.

The Sport AT is very different underneath including the carbon fiber driveshaft.

Yep good details coming from a true mechanic. He is mostly familiar with Toyotas though, some details he didn’t mention, the external CSC new to the RZ34, did he mention the driveshaft was CF(?), front end design was derivative of the 240Z. Just small points a Nissan/Datsun tech will point out. But great he mentioned serviceability of the major parts, and good pluses vs the Supra.

The manuals have the carbon fiber driveshaft, not the auto. Good review. Mostly accurate.

He is a superb mechanic with common sense engineering wisdom. Love his years of reviews from the mechanic technician professional evaluation. Wow he really loves thr manual transmission. He gives kudos to the quality build with the car over all. His knock is the busy tight engine compartment and little spacing like the last twin turbo Z. I like how thoroughly explains the engineering and mechanical aspects of the car. He basically said Nissan really went above and beyond to make the car of great build quality as a halo car should be. HEY, he says the suspension for aggressive track operating is lacking, true, why we all know upgrading the suspension is number 1, he said the engine overpowers the suspension/handling. We address this immediately with the aftermarket. We know this is a foundation project sports car that will be flexible with mods to make it once again, what the owner wants it to be.

Does anyone know if the oil hose that he mentioned being susceptible to leaks/damage as a result of heat...is that something that the aftermarket has an upgraded option for to eliminate a potential weakness??

haven’t seen anyone talk about it or any replacements. Can’t say I’ve seen any of the higher mileage folks have any complaints.

i get why he pointed it out though

Does anyone have a part number for it? Wouldn’t hurt to have it on standby for the inevitable failure

I wouldn’t say inevitable. Just because part of the line is rubber hose doesn’t mean it isn’t designed for heat.

He mentioned it because it’s an issue in general not that the VQ has issues specifically with it, and that in the perfect world it should be a single metal line circuit.

that said, I have 30 year old performance cars and two trucks from the early 90s with hoses that are exposed to more heat that when replaced still looked good.

I wouldn’t lose sleep over it

I enjoyed the review. The gentleman seems very knowledgeable. He is correct that there is a lot packed into the engine bay. With no warranty, repairs will get expensive due to labor costs. So far, I love my Z performance.

Savagegeese still has the best technical reviews IMO. Also enjoyed Engineering Explained for really deep dives.
