I just picked up my car after an oil and filter change, and three of my four tires were inflated to the "max pressure" printed on the side wall. And then the fourth tire...IDK smoke break?

Anyway, I stopped at the nearest gas station to reduce these to sensible levels, and this was more of a struggle than it should have been due to the crappy tire pressure gauge in my glove box. I don't recommend this unit. The curved window and the dim display make it near impossible to read in sunlight due to reflections and low contrast.

I used to have a digital gauge with a basic LCD display: gray background and black digits.

What do you all use? Send me a link to your favorite glove box pressure gauge that is readable in sunlight.

I use one of the old style ones where the white stick pops out of the end.

But also my bro, get some fuel in that beast! I start having nervous twitches if I get below 100 miles.

She's full now. That's the other thing I did at the gas station.

22 miles range is perfect for 1/4 mile runs. Keeps it lite !! ;)
thats right. lol.

Back in the day when i ran Atlanta dragway on friday “grudge” nights ($20 - all night better than six flags). I would drive over to the track bone dry and buy a few gal of racing fuel. One night i stoped at the burger joint and she would not start, had to walk a couple of blocks to the gas station.

I use this one and it's been great. Instead of trying to guess how much air to inflate from a compressor, you simply overfill by 3-4 psi and use the bleed button to get the pressure down to exactly what you want. I'm not sure how it works with digital gauges like the one posted above, but with the analog dial it's super easy to get the pressure exactly where i want it.

Joe's tire gauge

One other comment - I believe the recommended tire pressure (inside door jamb) is for when the tires are cold. So, when you're buying the tire gauge it's a good idea to pick up a cheap compressor too so you can fill at home. By the time you get to the gas station to air-up the tires will be warm.

yeap -works the same way. it has a bleed valve and the readout is live instant reading just like an analog. This one is calibrated and accurate to +/- 0.5%.

if you don’t have air compressor, you can over fill to your target and set the pressure the next morning.

Thanks for the inputs. I ended up ordering this one. A little less bulky. Accurate. Bleed valve. Easy to replace batteries. Hopefully the display is easy to read in the sun. It looks like it should be.

I already have a compressor, but its gauge always runs high, leaving the tires under inflated.

The Z horn beeps when you inflate to the ‘recommended pressures’ - which is handy if you don’t have a guage. It’s a shame the default pressures for TPMS seem to be fixed by Nissan. What if I want different psi defaults, or run different tires?
Anyone know if the default TPMS is configurable by Consult3 or vxdiag programs?

If you want to DIY, I always trust ‘Project Farm’ on YouTube for independant reviews. I usually watch him on 1.5x speed:
Accurate Tire Pressure Gauge
Summary: Most accurate under all conditions are Digital Gauges (in order): Jaco, Merlin & SKS Germany. All around $30.
Best Pencil Type: CZC Auto $9 and Milton Dual Head $17

So all that said Jaco are correct according to his review. I prefer pencil type (the Analog ones) so would buy one of those.

I just spent a bunch of time poking around in Consult trying to find a way to disable hill start assist. If it's there, I couldn't find it.

Since I had it hooked up, I also looked for the TPMS settings, and I couldn't find any settings. The only thing I found was a way to read pressure. Since I wasn't driving, everything read as zero.

WTF were they thinking? Bouncing houses have less pressure! LOL

Honestly, I just keep a ‘pencil type’ gauge in my glovebox. Readable in any conditions. 😂

A Milton Dual Head is nearly as accurate as a digital & no batteries to worry about. Made in the USA. They do a chrome finish one & a Milton digital would cost maybe $5 more. Decent brand.
