Hi Folks,

My 70th birthday was last Friday, 8/29. I decided to have a midlife crisis and sell my Volvo C70 and get my last fun car. I had, when they were still calling it a 400 Z, read all the articles and thought for $40,000 it would be great to have a modern take on a car I'd always loved - my brother-in-law had a yellow Datsun 240 Z. I waited to see it get to market. I watched the launch and got hope. But, since 2023 I have seen two in the wild. One in yellow the first year and a white Nismo last month.

I started looking and found a 2024 Nismo with 6000 miles, but it was already a little rough and I didn't love the ride, but the price was OK. Then I saw a new, yellow 2024 Performance for $10000 off and drove about an hour to see it. That's the one I took home yesterday!

Anyway, I can't wait to take some road trips. One question I had about getting fuel; is there an issue that causes the gas pump to click off when you try to get fuel?
I don't think I'm doing anything wrong but I couldn't get the pump to keep going. I kinda hope it's just me!

Thanks everyone!

Vince

Vince, first, congratulations on the new ride. You will love it.

I was pumping some premium yesterday (going to have to get used to filling up, these things are thirsty) and the pump clicked off a couple of times. It was, for me, just needing to be repositioned a little further into the tank and problem solved.

Enjoy!

Congratulations! I'm new too. Got mine back in May. I figured out you can get 22 mpg or 15 mpg is you don't behave. Enjoy the ride!

Congrats!! And it's really great to see members (new Z owners) spanning across all ages, some going back years with Datsuns, others younger gens. If you check out the ZAAR pics I posted, can see the wide ranging of owners. Great community really.

Welcome to the old guys Z club! Bought my first Z at age 24, and latest Z at age 74. Still have both. Got 30+ mpg driving the new Z home from Chicago to California but that was highway driving gently during the break in period.

Awesome pic! I wish I had an old classic to park next to my new Z of the same color. At 68, I still may have some time😉

Congratulations, Vince.....and to all the other later in life Z lovers! I thought I was on the higher end of owners when I bought mine in April at 58 years old!

I'd had 2 350 Z Roadsters and just for a little twist, an Infiniti G37S hard top convertible. I can say the new Z is the most fun vehicle I've ever had. You are going to LOVE it!

Maybe just a gas pump with super high flow was the problem. I haven't had anything like that.

I agree with the comment that I'd love to have a classic 240 to share space with the new beauty. That's a great story.
