I also just noticed comparing the two, Greddy's kit is entirely hard piping, whereas the Z1 uses a lot of hardened silicone. Seeing a lot of quality shortcuts here. Either way though, removing metal from my near $60,000 car with 12,000 miles on it is not my idea of a good time.
I just checked the installation instructions.

The hacking is for the air filters which is kind of stupid IMO. I would rather suck warm air from the engine bay and lose 10-20hp than cut my new car.

Does Greddy still offer their kit on the website? The air to air kit doesn't show up for me.

I don't think it has went on sale in the states yet, but I believe it is already available in Japan.

not sure if it was mentioned, but getting a tune will help alot for cooling. i activate the water pump earlier and radiator fans much earlier than stock
Really? I didn't know a tune could do that. Which tuner did you use? Ecutek? Racebox?

Tweaking the coolant pump and fan run temps will likely help, but I wouldn't consider this a panaceum by any means. The air to water system on this car (and I think honestly in most cars) is inherently flawed by design; there just isn't enough usable real estate to make one viable against long term performance/spirited driving.

Now if you comprehensively do the intercoolers, heat exchanger, and adjust the activation points for the pump and intercoolers you will probably see a decent buffer, but its only delaying the inevitable.

Breaking it down by price its honestly a no brainer for me. The AMS intercoolers are a staggering $2,400~, the CZP heat exchanger (made by CSF, the go to imho) is $585. Just those two alone and you are already approaching the price of the Greddy air to air kit, and any air to air kit offers proven low IAT's.

Even with an upgraded air to water system it's not a question of if, it's a question of when.

i agree

upgrading the tiny HX is a huge upgrade CZP is having a sale now for that extra two pulls before heat soak

but are the greddy kits out?

I fully agree.

AMS A2W intercoolers, heat exchanger, Z1 pump + controller, Air intakes is like $4k+ plus install.

I would get a A2A kit and the rest towards bigger turbos and never have to deal with all the heat soak drama.

And for the Z1 A2A kit I think you don't have to cut anything if you don't install the silicon parts between the MAF and filters (white arrows) and install the filter directly on the MAF housing in the engine bay.

The Greddy kit seems to be out in Japan, you can buy it on Nengun. Greddy has it listed on their usa website but no price/ordering yet. I'd really like to see some install instructions for the greddy kit to see what needs to be trimmed on the bumper cover. That's not ideal, but it beats shaving metal off my radiator support because of Z1's half baked design.

Based on their install instructions that seems to be the case, though I couldn't say how it would fit, likely better than hacking up the rad support. Z1 makes a habit out of designing parts 80% of the way for whatever reason.

What is interesting is I am working with AMS to spec out a build. I brought up that I'd prefer A2A for my use cases - tracking and maybe eventually time attack, and they quickly said nothing would beat the cooling off A2W and that the A2A kit would be a lot of weight right up front of the engine bay. Not sure how accurate that is, and they also mentioned cooler stacking. But they also suggested making a custom heat exchanger (or two!) to for my use case.

I told them that Nismo' Z super taikyu race car uses A2A and didn't get any response on the but they kept pushing on with A2W..

I wonder if they'll put their reputation where their sales pitch is and chime in here. Maybe I'll send them this link tomorrow!
