This is an introduction to my 1st Nissan, and it being a manual Z Sport. I couldn't think of a better place to document my progress and creating this blank canvas into my dreams

Now its been 1 yr today since taken delivery on Feb 12th, 2024. I figured why not start a page on our anniversary day. Now that this is typed out, this is more cheezy than what it sounded in my head 😅

During the past 12 months, I did some track time and cruised to Mt Rainier National Park. Found some cool Z owners along the way, and may have joined a Z Club without knowing I did lol

Thanks for taking the time to come with me on each stage of my progress

My 1st mod I did was upgrading my M/T axleback exhaust to an A/T axleback exhaust. I couldnt be more happier with the way it sounds. Only complaint is the drone when cruising between 1800-2500 rpms. I will be adding a HiFlo cat to the midpipe to help with that.

Here is my sound clip of the difference. And the forum with other members who commented for content

Nice to virtually meet you Michael

Plan is to add an intake, heatX, and maybe an ECUTEK stock tune to help smooth out the powerband

Im ordering a Z1 catch can now

From what I have seen, the AT version has a different mid pipe with resonators. If you can source one that may help. I have seen them on EBAY.

Nice to meet you virtually as well, Phil. You'll have to let me know how that ECUTEK stock tune works for you. I plan on getting better tires, Nismo CAI, and Swift Springs this year.

Here's a side x side comparison. I'll have to meet up with someone that has a A/T stock exhaust set up and listen to it in person

There is a good and a bad to every story

Installed the Z1 Catch Can a month ago. It was a PITA to get it installed. Mainly, the intercooler was the worst part of it all. I swear I was arm wrestling Sylvester Stallone yanking and pulling til I won the battle 💪🏼 That being said, hope what youre about to read on the bad, doesnt haunt me to do this job twice. After everything was out of the way, everything went in without a problem. Yep, you guessed it, I jynx'd myself 😒

The bad part showed its face. I went to remove the 3 screws to check and see how much oil I accumulated in the 1k miles of driving. 1st screw, no problem. 2nd screw was fighting and I won. 3rd screw wasnt letting go and it won the 1st round. EZ Out and a vise took care of that little b*tch lol. Thankfully the bolt has a long shaft with no threads, because the screwhead broke off. Luckly, the bottom can slid down and out. I had to use vise grip pliers to get the screw off the can

After emptying the sip of oil out the can (sorry, no pics), I decided to try the good screw on the 3 holes before reassembling the can. Good thing I did, cus I found out 2 of the 3 holes are stripped. The screw was binding after a couple turns. This explains the 2 screws was fighting me. How does this happen at Z1 🤔 I would like to know who, or how the screws are installed for this to happen 👀 The screw goes in 11 threads deep. Im confused. See Post 9 for more pics

I took pics so I can send them to Z1. Now the waiting game begins for their response.
I posted those pics on Post 9. Click here to jump to it https://www.nissanzclub.com/forum/threads/who-am-eyes-dream-journal.4149/#post-109900

I learned the hard way the first time, I maybe over torqued those three screws, unscrewing them, stripped all the hex heads. Had to get a screw remover tool and new screws.

Now when i check the oil catch, i just slightly torque them (finger tight with the hex tool)

I was looking at the Z badge on the rear and thought about installing the vinyl decals that was available. After sleeping on it, I pulled off the badge instead

A week later, saw a local guy I follow on instagram and he just happened to share a wrap job he did on the Nissan badge. I liked the look and had him take care of the rear badge in black

Here's the aftermath

Pic marked with 3 on them was the good one
Holes 1 & 2 appear to have the remains of powder coat plugs that melted in the oven. Used plugs/something(?) they shouldn't have, or someone turned the temp up to move parts through faster. Assuming all three were drilled and tapped to the correct depth, a quick run through with a tap would clean it out.

Do those screws need to be removed when emptying the can?
