Where are folks mounting their phones in their cars? I've decided it's time I bought one.. never had one before but there's too many options.

I suspect I'll be happiest with the mount on the left side of the wheel.

I've tried about a dozen of those mounts that have the prongs to put in the vents, and none of them fit. The vent vanes are too close together.

Yeh, I'm familiar. But the one I reference above fits my Z, my GMC, and my wife's Murano perfectly. If I had any complaints about it, it would be about the magnet being so strong.

I don't use a phone mount anymore but when I did in the past, I usually picked it up from Walmart for $5 or $10 and it would last me at least one or two years and it has suction cup for the windshield glass so that there's no stickiness or stickers anywhere or any kind of glue on the dashboard left behind.

I went and got one of these, put it on the left side of the windshield. It was $18 and vibrates when driving. Overall.. it works.
Maybe I'll try a magnetic one when I change phones.

Forgot to post some pictures of the Walmart $18 special.
Following up.. The foam pads fell off after a month.
The mount jiggles when you ride down the road, but a slow smooth jiggle.
Overall I'm happy with it.. still works great.

I abandoned the magnetic phone holder I mentioned in favor of this one. Its magnet is less aggressive, the prongs securing it to the vent are more secure, and a 1 foot USB-C to USB-C cable allows it to charge wirelessly. Definite improvement as a phone holder.
