BEV all accelerate the same, instant torque, no gears. So, we loose the drama of waiting for boost or coming up on cam. We loose the great sounds and feel of a proper, exciting engine.

Some companies are working on manual/stick-shift systems for electric cars which would basically be a fake system that limits the power / torque the electric motor(s) can use when in particular "gears". It's likely to be as "good" as the manual mode in most automatics ... i.e. hopeless.
