I've had my Z close to a year now, no issues *knock on wood and bone*
The 9spd auto has its quirks but I've been learning to finesse the throttle when I'm not using the paddles. I think reliability comes down to maintenance and use. I had an '09 Altima 2.5L with the CVT and no issues despite hearing mostly negative feedback about the car and CVT in particular. I changed oil early and didn't abuse the CVT. From talking to people that only have bad things to say about CVT's, some of them were trying to drive it like an auto trans and then complain. But that's another topic. So negative feedback should always be dissected and fleshed out.
