I've connected my 15 Pro Max wirelesly but there's a slight lag, like with some bluetooth connections. Wired is of course fine, but I've used wireless airplay in other cars and they don't have any lag.

Anyone else had this problem?

I'm only 3 months in, but no issues with my 16 (maybe 16 Pro) *touch wood*

No problems with Bluetooth lag on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 18.5 (up to date as of today).

I have had problems getting the WiFi on the phone to connect to CarPlay_b170 consistently. I prefer WiFi CarPlay to bluetooth.

Not sure if all Z models have WiFi CarPlay. I think that wired & Bluetooth are always available.

Not disconnecting, but twice I’ve started driving and it didn’t/wouldn’t automatically connect, podcast/music was only playing through the phone speakers. Both times I went through the screens to manually connect, which is fortunately just two or three clicks.

Mine will connect at first be wired or wirelessly and after two minutes, it will completely disconnect and pretend it’s not there. I had to resort to attempting to connect it again for it work. I grew more suspicious when I realized that the same happened with the my tahoe, so I’m in the process of seeing if it’s a defective iPhone 16 proā€˜s Apple CarPlay connectivity. We shall see.

How do you switch to wireless CarPlay instead of bluetooth CarPlay?

It looks like the Performance & Nismo Z will have WiFi capability. Sport, it looks like no.

You can check in Connections tab. If you have ā€œVehicle Hotspotā€ on the WiFi tab (and you can select it with an orange dot) then it’s WiFi compatible. To get Wireless CarPlay, you don’t put the Vehicle Hotspot on. With just WiFi on, it should be broadcasting a CarPlay_bnnn WiFi network. You connect to that.

If I’m connected to the Vehicle Hotspot, my phone can only use Bluetooth to the Infotainment system. No WiFi CarPlay when connected to the car’s WiFi internet. That’s my experience, anyways. I guess phones can connect to one WiFi at a time, so you choose between Hotspot or CarPlay.

When I first got my Nismo, I had troubles with carplay (both wireless and wired). It got better after a while, and when I got my new phone (upgraded from the 2020 SE to the iphone 16) it became perfect. Wireless carplay works every time, and unplugging my phone seamlessly transfers (or it's always running in bluetooth, I can't tell).
