He stated that the shifter goes too far to the right. The reverse lockout plate is what governs the shifter travel.

You're absolutely correct, the lock-out plate matches his symptoms perfectly and is the likely culprit.

I was mainly responding to the "there's nothing to bend" portion because it IS possible (though difficult, depending on platform) to internally damage a transmission from the shift lever, but you're correct that his symptoms do not match that damage.

I removed the CarDoc Connect module the dealer installed, and canceled the service. I was on the fence about it's value vs. intrusiveness; but seeing battery drain using a battery tender, just decided I don't want it installed. Doubtful tte dealer will do any refund, but will call.

I have one of these stupid things in my Grand Cherokee that the dealer installed as soon as they took delivery off the truck... I've been meaning to remove it and really need to get around to it!

I have one of these stupid things in my Grand Cherokee that the dealer installed as soon as they took delivery off the truck... I've been meaning to remove it and really need to get around to it!
Seems a universal install where they're zip-tied in, just have to remove and set the OEM OBD back in the slot. CarDoc was easy to work with, just had to send an email for "written request" and provide a copy of my license and title (or contract).
