I just did it to mine, wrist was definitely starting to get shaky about half way through the second lid! Excited to take it out shortly after I clean up all the mess! In case anyone needs freedom units it’s a 1/8” drill bit for me!

Halfway there, just cleaning up the plastic 😬

The driver side is still intact, but I wanted to test the drilled one 😬

Trunk sound deadening project; this is about 11sq/ft of material. A little better Bose sub performance (it needs it) and slightly less road/tire noise are never a bad thing.

Project Sound Deadening made that crappy little Bose subwoofer sound a fair bit better! Just got back from my test loop and quite satisfied with the improvement considering minimal cost & effort. You can actually hear/feel the bass now, along with improved clarity.

Very nice! Mine drilled out pretty clean but did sand down the inside to remove any loose bits.

Much better induction noise in and out of the cabin! Now it’s a nice balance between the auto trans exhaust I added and the intake.

Installed the alpha Rex quads, and my CAI. Is the ECU reflash mandatory? I heard dealerships can do it for free, although the intake is my first mod in the z.

I've got the Nismo CAI as well, no reflash required. The 3" intakes require a tune though.

Got an alignment done. Looks like I damaged the front left and rear right suspension from my adventure on the ice a few weeks ago. Looks like I'll have to go fully adjustable + coilovers in the near future lol.

I removed my CAI lids and drove around, could hear the turbos more...not really the spooling so much but mainly the whoosh when letting off the gas on high rpm upshifts.

Drilled out the lids...Can't hear them quite as much..

BUT: I do know that with the lids off/drilled out, the engine responds better and the exhaust is louder. It also doesn't stutter at high rpm as bad as it used to, so that tells me that the air boxes weren't getting as much air as the car wants. I wondered about that bc the intake tubes where the CAI butts against seems a little small.

I do have the Tru Control and am seeing about 19PSI on the top end. Maybe a stock car wouldn't see these issues as much?

What intake are you running?
I get don’t get much spool driving normally, but do typically hear blowoff (normal driving it’s like a little exhale). When pushing it I get crazy spool and blowoff…PSSSHHHHH

I think you might be on to something. I just did the same thing to my NISMO intakes and I have the Z1 hotbox which bumps the PSI to 17/18 and since doing that it seems much more responsive!

I hesitated to put that bc I didn’t want to be called crazy but I really don't believe it's the placebo effect. I'll know tomorrow am when I drive to work bc I am definitely in tune with how the car behaves on that route...

So driving to work this am the temp was the same as it's been, middle 40°s.

In the neighborhood the car definitely wanted to "go" a bit more than normal.

Get out on the roads after leaving the neighborhood, noticeably more growl from the exhaust under acceleration.

My entire commute except the very end is 45mph or less. Engine is smoother for sure.

The last part of my drive, I make a right and go a half mile on a state highway. I nail the throttle and snatch 2nd gear every morning and get a bit through 3rd gear as well. The tires broke loose with a good bit more authority in 2nd gear this morning. I did get more "whoosh" when letting off the gas this morning too.

I work on a military installation so there's a drive coming into the gate. Less jerky this morning slowing for the speedbumps, etc. Leaving the guard shack with my windows still down, I could hear the turbos spooling up, echoing against the wall. I normally don't hear that.

Nothing earth shatteringly different this morning, but there's a definite improvement. I'm happy. I'll take it.

Applied this around perimeter and under car. Also sprayed in engine compartment . To help deter rodents.
