So I just got a used 2024 Z performance auto few days ago, only 1100 miles on it. Past few days it was all perfect but today when I drove I hear like this noise similar to a flat tire/ train running on tracks like noise. Seems to be coming from the rear. I don’t think I’ll drive it further until I look under the car but anyone has any insights?

Speeds up and slows down based on the car's speed.
And I assume your tire pressures are OK.
-> Do you feel anything, vibration anywhere, or is it just the noise?
-> Is it only when you're moving?
-> While driving, does it change with RPM or specifically the speed/MPH of the car?

I'm just throwing things out there:

Something wrapped around the drive shaft.
Something wrapped around a half shaft.
Damaged drive shaft U-joint.
Damaged half shaft.
Loose wheel (no lug nuts tight).
Something stuck in or on a tire/wheel smacking into the road, bodywork or suspension.
- Hesitant on these:
Wheel bearing? It would have to be COMPLETELY SHOT to make that noise.
Brake disc issue? If it were bad enough to make that noise you should feel it through the brake pedal.

Vibration wise not too sure, can’t tell with the road. But seems to be mostly when I let off the gas and the car is decelerating on its own is when the noises are heard. Need to test more to be sure but faster the car is moving louder the noise maybe? I wouldn’t think the wheel bearing could be the issue, car is basically brand new. Going to lift the car up and see if I notice any abnormality.

I'd definitely be contacting the place you purchased it from ASAP to get it documented.

@RedAustinIX is right, whoever you bought it from needs to know. That shouldn't stop you from checking it out though.

If a wheel bearing is making that much noise, when you jack up the car the whole wheel assy should flop around all over the place.

Not sure how familiar you are with cars, but pay particular attention to anything that moves, specifically rotates. If you're using a jack/jack stands, I'd jack the whole rear end up so you can rotate things. Will need to put it in N, so if you do, be careful.

I’m going with the nail or broken belt in the tire

It looks like I fixed the issue, lifted the rear end and the left rear wheel was wiggling a bit, turns out there were 3 loose nuts. Torqued both sides to spec and it was back to normal in the test drive. Will be paying attention for the next few days.

Absolutely, will retorque them in a few days
Good news. Drive safe and I would contact the dealer and let them know about the wheel almost coming off. Should’ve been checked for safety before they delivered it to you.

You might want to take the wheel off and inspect the studs (what the lug nuts screw into) to make sure they weren't damaged from the wheel rattling around so much. You could also check the rim in the same area to ensure it wasn't worn away in the lug nut holes.

I was assuming the screeching was the rim hitting the dust shield, but maybe not. I had a Mazda dealership send my wife out with loose lug nuts once. Could’ve killed her. No damage, just anger. Anyway, I’d be checking the rim entirely, even wheel weights that could get knocked off rubbing things.
