Hello,

I'm new to the forum. I'm thinking of replacing my old 2017 Nismo that I recently lost in an accident, and getting the new Nismo, but I'm worried about the reliability of the VR30 compared to the old VQ37. Any words of wisdom from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

From what I have seen / read it's biggest potential faults are carbon build-up, belt failure and fuel injector issues. All pretty minor issues and have not seen many people here talk about things like this. Probably most common thing I have seen is fuel starvation on the track.

I personally have had zero issues in my ~5k miles of driving my Z.

The engine has been around a few years and has won awards for Wards 10 best engines in 2017 and 2018.

I don't think there is much to worry about. Of course things can happen with any engine.

The VR30 is relatively new in the Z, only since MY 2023. My 23 doesn't even have 9K miles yet, so not a lot of data.

However, a quite similar engine is also in the now-discontinued Infiniti Q60. You might also check out any forums dedicated to that car.

My Nismo is my first ever Nissan, I had zero worries about reliability. Its a Nissan Z not a Bugatti, there is a ton op parts on Ebay already. If it breaks out of warranty you simply fix it.. I personally never take my cars back to the dealer after purchase, not for recalls or service, nothing so I'm on the hook for any repairs. My car has 8200 miles, gets bounced off the rev limiter at least 10 every drive. The car has been flawless and under $60k its the sports car bargain of the decade.

Yeah, the big issue that I heard of was the possibility of Porous Block, where the coolant leeks into the block. And turbo failure. I know this has mainly been issues with the earlier motors in the Q60/50. This will be my first turbo sports car, so I guess reliability isn't going to be as good as a NA engine. Some dealers are offering big discounts on The Nismo right now, so wish me some luck.

Honestly, in my little experience with turbo'd engines - yes it is just another part that can break. I am more experienced with an NA (American V8) engine but I am thoroughly enjoying my toes dipping into the import turbo world. The Z is just a badass, fun, amazing sports car value. They look pretty amazing too.

If you want a black Nismo I hear this is one of the best deals out there. This is the dealer near me and someone else on this forum bought a Z from them and had it shipped to Oregon.

$57.3k will be hard to beat for a brand new Nismo.

I'm wanting to get the white one since my last Nismo was white. The deal I was quoted on a white one was $59,4k, and they were willing to match other dealer prices. So, we shall see...

I'm looking to get a deal on a Nismo. I've got some pretty good offers so far. I'll have to see where that goes.

That Nismo ain't got no Heated Seat or Steering Wheel. Tennessee is pretty cold in the winter.
