If your hands and arms aren’t worn out after a track day you didn’t drive hard enough.
After four different rounds I've had enough; TBH.

Actually no. When drifting that’s true, but with track days if you’re smooth w the controls and not fight the steering, tires, suspension, let the car work, it’s your brain and concentration that’s gets beat up at the end of the day trying to hit all the apexes correctly. All about smoothness and momentum for best lap times. There are cars that are naturally tail happy, S2K. Lotus, etc. but the Z is for the most part neutral w slight built-in understeer.

Not saying I nailed all the apexes just right but smoother is always faster. In my Cayman S. The Z will be set up next year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS guys!!

I’m still at the sore arms and hands level. Never made it past blistered fingers with the guitar, so I guess that’s just how I roll.

True Dat...
The instructor mentioned that during the briefing before the tracking. I end up relaxed at the end of the first run. But as the leader started to run faster in the following ones, for some reason, I started to get tense and couldn't trust the Nismo. Some of the guys that work in this facility were super excited when they saw the Nismo. After the second run, I shared with the leader what I was feeling. His response was: "trust me, that Nismo can do way more than you can imagine. And can go way faster than what you're doing". So, if I tracked the car at least twice a month, I would get way better and more experienced. But for me, it is so darn expensive...

Yep, with more laps, times will get better and confidence ramps up. Great that you didn’t over drive and unsettle the Z. Our Zs and especially the Nismos with proper tires and brakes/fluids have way higher limits than we realize. It gets pricey but the number of lap times you get makes it reasonable IMO. Keep going man. It gets more fun as you approach those limits.

It's funny that you mentioned that... I actually started to feel the tires not "gripping" as much after the first run. Maybe new tires and the brake fluid you mentioned would make me feel more confident on taking those turns at higher speeds.

Not sure how the NISMO is fitted, but a good set of stainless brake lines and possibly a master cylinder brace are relatively simple things that can help firm up threshold braking. Others here are far more experienced with this.

All Z's need engine and brake cooling.

I ran Motul RBF600 and it was not enough at Thunder hill, 100+ temps. Boiled the clutch after two sessions.

Switched to Endless RF650 for brakes/clutch, replaced the lines with new stainless units, and went to Sonoma instead (80 deg). No issues.

Boiled the clutch AND brake fluids with RBF600? I heard Endless and Castrol are great high boiling pt fluids also. Have experiences with Motul and ATE blue so far no issues here in warm So Cal. Are you also using track pads, not stock?

Interesting, never heard the clutch fluid boiling, also Motul? I know the RBF600 and 660 brake fluids have been fine so far my use even in hot summer months here.
