Has anyone replaced the steering wheel in their Z? I ordered a Nismo wheel (because reasons) and not sure how to install it. Don't want to take it to a dealer and I don't trust random auto shops.

I am replacing the OEM RZ34 NISMO wheel with a custom-made one. I have done that as well in my Z33, so I took it to the dealer to ensure no issues would occur with the airbag module.

My Z33 wheel looks like this. (Picture from the vendor)

When you actually replace it could you take some pics so I can get an idea of how to properly remove it? Also the airbag. I see two plastic covers that can be removed but I never tried to remove them. The wheel should be arriving tomorrow.

My custom RZ34 wheel won't be arriving till Q1. It takes 2+ months to produce.

^ That's where I bough mine from. I don't find the partial carbon inserts attractive, so mine will be leather / perforated leather, with a flat bottom.

I'm stuck at step 1. I think the airbag needs to come out first but I see some kind of release clip/button, not sure what to do.

I tried to press the clip but nothing happens. Any ideas?

The one thing I wish the Z had stock was a heated wheel. When I got my Frontier a few years ago I didn't care that it had a heated steering wheel - I thought I would never use it. Well I use it more than heated seats personally. Been a few cold mornings this fall that I have taken the Z out and man it would have been nice to have that heated wheel.

If someone gets this let us know how good it is. Also I don't see a button on there to activate the heated wheel - the button clusters look the same as the stock Z. That open black space next to the cruise control on the right looks like a good spot. Or the gray buttons on the right would be a good spot too.

@loudsx Thanks. I ended up figuring it out. Found the three small holes that lead to release pins. Then had some friends show me how to release the airbag connections. I'm all set!
