I went to a dealership yesterday to specifically look at the Interior Accent Lighting option (it was in a MY26 Performance) and I was BEYOND underwhelmed. It's $480 and factory-installed, and it was very hard to see the colors (I only saw around 5-6 different colors: something like white/yellow, red, green, blue, and purple). The lighting is ONLY in the footwells and nowhere else which makes me question why it's so expensive. It seems like a design afterthought by Nissan and something you could just pick up from Amazon for $50 (not that I would, but I'm trying to emphasize how simple and anemic this option really is). I could understand the price if the lighting included mood-inducing pinstripe-lighting along the dash and/or doors but this isn't the case. And when you look at the nissanusa website's photo of this option, it's now obvious to me that even in a a really dark photo trying to highlight this lighting, it's actually quite anemic. The on/off/color switch is located on the lower left dash approximately in front of where your left knee is positioned.
For those of you who have this option in your Z, can you let me know your opinion? How does it look at nighttime or in the complete dark? Did you spec this option in your build, and are you happy with it? I'd really like to consider if I should remove it from my build. Thanks!
