I am "running" into an issue with the parking assist relating to the concrete wheel stops at the front end of parking locations. Sometimes the assist warns me of their proximity to the front under spoiler/front bumper while other times the only warning I get is the grating sound of the front under spoiler / front bumper. Is the parking assist supposed to sense these? If so at what height are they spec'd to detected?

From 5-94 of the owners manual regarding the sonar parking assist system:

The system will not detect
small objects below the bumper,
and may not detect objects close
to the bumper or on the ground.

Mine works fine as long as you go slow.

Nope. The sensors aren't going to help you with those parking curbs. That will not be the last time you you scrape the air dam.
No kidding. I try to be careful not to scrape, but sometimes I'll drive over the ramp I've done 100 times, and this time I did it wrong and SCAPE!

Several months ago, some other forum member called the chin spoiler a "sacrificial part". The car gods must be happy with me.

I don't trust it. I go very slow with mine, and regularly I have to step outside, to ensure I'm not going to hit something. Wish this had a front camera!

Thanks to all who responded. Years ago I had the 360Z and this was a constant issue. I had hoped the parking assist would alleviate it. It appears to be a sometimes thing. When I see a wheel stop I drive VERY carefully and slowly. Sometimes I get the park assist warning on the display while other times I get the acoustic warning after the fact when I hear the scrapping sound. Boy does that grate on my nerves.

I just park well away from the curb. Fortunately, this is the Land of 10,000 Pickup Trucks, so even if I do that my Z rarely sticks out farther than the vehicles next to it.

I will say that despite innumerable "curb scrapes", I've never actually torn the thing off or damaged the main body of it.
