If any of these Nissan dealerships take a page out of Ford's shady dealer playbook, they may also require you to use their financing regardless of you coming to the table pre-approved with a lower rate from your own bank and they may also require you to trade-in a vehicle as part of the transaction. They can cram their ADM with walnuts...

if buyers are having money hand over fist wanting so much to give away to dealers then it's all good for both sides. heheh...it's unavoidable in inflation periods. What i hope is the situation will calm down over time. it may take 2 yrs for market to absorb all this surplus money and start manufacturing again. only us consumers in general suffer from's fed uncontrollable printing machine.

haha, $30k. You can buy a new GR86/BRZ for as much as the ADM.

ADM has nothing to do with inflation and everything to do with greediness and taking advantage of customers.

My thoughts exactly. Dealerships and Dealership families taking advantage of the shitty supply chain issues, and trying to maximize profits since their inventory is relatively low.

There's an old saying in the car bid-ness:

"You can't get it unless you ask..."
Speaking of, is there any way from a public POV where we could track if and when people (who aren’t on this forum/don’t self-report to that markup tracking site) buy these marked up Protos? guessing we would collate VINs and use something like carfax for sales. Don’t think that would capture sales price though…

Might be an interesting data point to monitor.

dealers markup bc there is not an abundance of them. why not? bc supply chain broken due to covid that in turn cause shortage of products. but how do pp afford high price ? i think partly bc surplus money coming from fed zero rates that cause house shopping frenzy in turn doubling house price in many markets, this generational housing weath enables pp to do (or not do) a lot of things including paying markups for products that used not to be so. oc there are other factors and weathy pp besides this but definitely a good % of the new wealth is fr the recent housing price rise.

I got the call from my salesperson at my dealership that my Proto Spec Z is in production this month and should be delivered by Mid September. $500 deposit in and 10k non negotiable ADM. so I guess I’m gonna pay it. Reluctantly! Will the 240 proto’s be numbered I’m wondering?? Can I tell by my VIN # shown here??

To be clear, I don't like liberals in the USA, at all.

However, I'm not so sure the current trend of stupid buying habits is really their fault.

I feel like the way people are burning through money on new, hard to find vehicles, with massive markups, is likely due to people not good at fiscal responsibility. I would bet, when you see someone rocking a new, hard to get Rivian, Bronco, C8.... whatever it is, there's likely a HELOC loan involved. And the real estate mess is insane, has little to do with any one political ideology.

Now, if you're talking about people living in section 8 with expensive rims, top of the line smartphones and kids on free lunch.... well that's more like what you're identifying.....
