Hey all I am new to this forum and the new Z but do own an 86 5 speed, T-Top and have also owned others Z's in the past. This is my first brand new Z ever so I am super excited about getting it! It is a 9 speed AT with Red Interior Inserts. I was not sure I was going to like the AT but after test driving it I was sold on it. The car is very responsive and major fun to drive. I am pondering the couple of issues I want to address like missing a spare and looking for the right type of cell phone mount but I am seeing others talking about these things so I expect to glean something from them. I'll post a few pics and move on.
Thanks!

I have a 2024 Z Performance since September 2023. I've had 9 prior Z's since 1970, including both a 2011 and a 2014 370Z. My observations relative to your questions...

  • this is the best Z yet. It is an absolute blast.
  • I've always been an MT guy, have definitely come to prefer the 9AT
  • buy a radar detector
  • needs sway bars, as have all Z's I've ever owned
  • the OEM tires are so-so, most noticeable in heavy rain and very cold road surfaces.
  • I've recently discovered that performance is significantly improved by using 93 octane premium, rather than the more commonly available 91 octane
  • I don't know about the lack of a spare, except to say that in the 75,000+ miles that I put on my 370Z's since 2011, I've never had a reason to use the spare. I do note that some folks have bought a spare off ebay. It fits perfectly in the under-floor.
  • I doubt you'll have any significant cell-phone issues. My iPhone works fine with the Z but I find Nissan's approach to their "infotainment" system is pretty crappy. My biggest issue is that when I was using wireless CarPlay, it does so by creating an in-car wifi connection. This negatively affects the ability of the phone to access the internet. I solved that issue by just plugging it in and disabling the in-car wifi.
  • I still haven't figured out what "NissanConnect" is all about.

Thanks for you comments. The cell phone issue I was talking about was what kind of mount/holder to use that won't mess up the interior. I also saw the car internal wifi network and wondered what that was.. I use Android Auto with a cable so I have not encountered your issue. As far as Nissan Connect, I used it when I bought a 2018.5 Rogue Sport during the initial trial period and personally didn't find it useful at the time. You could do stuff like remote start and some few other things that seemed to be a waste to me. But you also have access to road service and Nissan support thru the SOS button in the map light. I did not renew it when the trial was over. I thought they did away with it but guess not.
Thanks!

Welcome to Exclusivity and be prepared to get many looks and thumbs-ups... My dad had a 280Z (how I learned to drive stick). I've had in the past 2 350Zs (silver '03/blue '06), 3 370Zs (black '09, white '13, red nismo '16). My '24 Boulder is AT also and I prefer it. Enjoy your new toy!

Nissan Connect for the Z does not have remote start, but does have remote lock/unlock, lights and horn…as well as location and maintenance.

As to the cell phone holder, I didnt want to drill or glue so I use a magnetic holder that hooks into the air vent. It’s also a charger that I power from the USB-C port with a 12 inch USB-C cable. It works great.

Red interior with the exterior white is 🔥. Congrats! Keep us posted on your mod plans if any .. I’m curious about the phone holder too.

I put my two Z's together in the driveway for a comparison.
I am considering letting the 86 go but have made no decision yet.
The new Z will be my daily driver but I'll miss having the T-Tops out!

The '80s Z sure are full touring cars. New Z sure keeps the heritage, but like most modern cars today, wider longer heavier than the originals. At least Nissan kept the bloodline pure. Congrats!

Derrick Wilson was the internet salesman. Its a smaller Z34 world than I thought it was! I saw another Z34 White Nismo Saturday morning near my home and we plan to get together sometime. So far I love the car.
