Just got my '24' Performance Boulder Grey 6 spd. a few days ago. I've been on this site and YouTube exploring exhaust. I don’t want aftermarket, most are too loud or drone. I would be happy with the Stock Automatic exhaust. Does having that installed throw any codes or Check engine lights? It seems simple enough to bolt on OEM with no problems but the computer would still have warm up and rpm info for my manual. I have a Certified Nissan Warranty so I worry about voiding the warranty.
I've also searched online and can’t find any for sale in the So. Cal Area. Also has anyone here made the switchover and are they happy with it? Thanks for any help.

Congrats! I test drove an automatic Z and it sounded pretty good, purchased a manual which you can’t hear any exhaust note stock.

I ended up swapping for the AWE touring exhaust, it’s just a bit louder than the stock automatic exhaust and has a bit of low down rumble which is the sweet spot for me (also had the dealer turn off the fake engine noise / ASE), it’s designed to not drone and I haven’t noticed any. You’ll save some money if you can find someone selling a used automatic exhaust on FB marketplace locally versus aftermarket at least.

These are all cat-back exhausts so no electronics / check engine lights or warranty issues but you could always double-check with your dealer.

HKS Super Turbo is awesome just got mine but the Nismo edition of the HKS Super Turbo, not too loud just enough to make the car come alive and no drone at all. Plus you know with HKS that you're getting proper quality that increases torque and horse power that they are stating.

Simple: Get the Nismo Street exhaust. It's perfect, and it's Nissan so no worries about warranty. I bought mine in December and love it. There's a shop in Arizona that posted a Youtube clip of the sound that's pretty close.

I'll 2nd the recommendation for AWE Touring:
https://www.nissanzclub.com/forum/threads/awe-touring-exhaust-feedback-wanted.8252/

But... If you want to stay stock than either do Nismo Street or find an A/T take-off. For a stock exhaust someone already removed and discarded, check with performance shops that specialize in Nissans and actual Nissan dealerships. They'll probably happily let you take it for free as it'll be less junk for them to discard of.

I went with the automatic transmission exhaust. The sound is much better than what came from factory on my manual performance. The best way I can describe it is using our stereos as a analogy. The manual exhaust is an 8, you can hear it but it’s a bit quiet and at higher speeds would be hard to hear. The automatic one is about an 10 or 11, more pronounced and easier to hear but still not loud. Tone is a little deeper and raspier as well, no drone at highway speeds. From what I can tell the NISMO and AWE are probably around a 14, still great in my opinion but starting to get loud. Your spouse or neighbors may not approve. I’m very happy with the auto option plus I can still hear my NISMO intakes at higher RPMs! However, one word of caution is don’t just do the axle back part only, it’ll be very loud and drone like a MF because you are basically straight piping it with a design that wasn’t meant to be straight piped. I know there are some eBay resellers with just the axle back for sale, make sure you get the resonated mid pipes or else you’re just wasting money IMO.

Personally I was really tempted to get the NISMO street option but for 40% of the cost I can keep it OEM and keep the great looking tips! I also know the AWE is pretty great too and a little bit more reasonable than the NISMO but my preference is also keeping it closer to OEM+.

For the warranty worries doing a different catback should be fine, usually when you start touching the actual engine and emissions is when you can nuke part of your warranty (remember they will have to prove the mod caused the failure). With all this said I’m just some random dude on a forum, if you want to be absolutely certain message your salesman or a service advisor at your dealership for piece of mind on the warranty part!

Congrats on getting the Z, got mine 24’ auto in yellow month ago. Absolutely love it. Auto stock exhaust sounds decent but recently installed awe catback touring. It’s not a huge difference, sounds slightly louder with a slight deeper rumble to it. Definitely recommend it. Still a little too quiet for my liking so I’m looking into catted lower down pipes. Just debating rn about the whole void warranty issue.

Thanks for the response, it's thorough and really helps. I remember years ago the great rich sound of the Infinity G37 Coupe in stock form. That sound would be perfect, it sounds like your car is close to that. The factory Nismo exhaust is too loud for me. I guess the only problem now is trying to find a complete Auto. Exhaust. Thanks for everyone’s input!

I have a full stock auto exhaust for sale if you decide to go that route.

I have a manual performance and swapped a automatic muffler on to my Z. It’s probably my favorite “modification.”

First: Great choice of the model & color. Congrats.

I don’t think you void the warranty by changing exhaust. You just have to prove that anything you did could not have caused whatever fails. To be 100% safe then sure, go with a stock option. If you buy the auto exhaust somewhere- ask for a receipt saying it came off RZ34 VIN number X and the date. Of course in 4 years you will need to be CARB legal… unless that changes. Who knows?

You could also just change to Nismo CAI (intakes) and turn off ANC/ASE. Lots of info in forum threads about Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) features
Sounds like it wouldn’t do anything but it does.

Apologies if you already are doing something about the ‘fake engine noises’ coming through the audio even when it’s off. Crazy, right?
