Looks like this was just a design study (explaining why it looks somewhat "unfinished" and highly conceptual) but Honda should totally produce some kind of small sports car.

I think that is what the article mentions, too. I'm going to go out on a fairly steady limb and say that Honda has zero plans for it, then. At least Toyota's more recent (and similar) concept looks like it has a more realistic chance

That car was a design study in 2015 for a new NSX.

Honda does supposedly have a sports car under wraps in development, but there have been no leaks on that one so far. Just speculation. People fearing for the worst that it's some EV S2000.

Oh, that's right, I had heard that! Yeah, Honda's being incredibly tight-lipped on that project, if we assume there's truth to the speculation.
