There are plenty of cars Misha has put around the the ring that are a cheaper than the STD "Z" that have performed exceptionally well!
Exactly right mate some people just cannot accept the Z Performance is utter crap in stock form. Even track laptimes show how slow it is a GR Yaris is way faster in stock form.

I do think a fair comparison would be the '27 Nismo Z MT vs. the BMW M2. With all options, those are only a few thousand apart. My sense is that the rawness and more analog feel of the Nismo would win out, and I'd love to see that.
Yes that’s another story altogether but I just don’t see how some cannot see how terrible out of the box the Z Performance is when pushed 8/10. Tyres and brake pads are a joke!

First mod was michelin ps4 tires. Then anti-sway bars .I ordered my tires before I signed the car sales documents! I knew this was a cheap price gt sports auto with needed aftermarket upgrades. Its an attainable 400HP at motor 2 seater GT. A great deal. With that comes the realization if you want a track car you have to make the after market upgrades we all are doing/did. I purchased a Sport model. Addressed a lengthy sheet of Upgrades for ECU ecutek tune 133 HP power bump suspension/grip(tire&wheels) power mods FBO , aero, flex fuel system upgrades, clutch etc over a year and half . Nissan should be given praise for committing to the legacy of Z and making this low customer sale volume auto in this present day of economic conditions. You want a capable track car build one. Base performance and sport are good fun comfy sport cars for folks who dont need a track car who can afford to love. No other auto maker makes a sub 2 seater GT at least 400HP @ motor . Kudos to Nissan. We love our Z. Im sure for those of us who made track mods to our Z would love to get Misha's assessment after driving one track spec'd. And i love Misha but yea. Will address breaks. Gonna get capable quality BBKs
Exactly! The real problem(s) are folks unrealistic expectations for what they are buying. An example would be buying a Seiko and complaining it doesn't do everything as well as Rolex! For the vast majority (including me and most of the complainers) who will never track their Z it doesn’t matter. In my opinion Ring time and performance are just an advertisement tool. If I wanted something straight out of the box that could demolish the Ring I sure wouldn’t have purchased a Nissan.

So you think it's ok that a car like a Z Performance has no brake 1/3 into the NĂĽrburgring and absolutely no rear grip to the extent that someone with that much experience like Mischa says his going 40km/h slower than he usually does in some sections..!?
I love the Z but the Z Performance is very underwhelming in stock form for it's price point and the Z Nismo should crush the M2 and GR Supra on track, not matter what you say that's a fact.

OK, then I suggest you purchase one of those vehicles that are Mischa Ring approved! Why own a car that because somebody said it didn’t demolish a Race Track stock upsets you’ll? Now can there be impeachments to the Z of course,.

At this point most of us know the non-Nismo RZ34 really disappoints when pushed hard and Misha just confirms that, being so familiar w the Ring AND the hundreds of cars he's driven to compare with. Main reason I bought it was the Nissan blood and heritage styling, gorgeous, not the overdone boy-racer Supra/BMW approach. It's a great Z for daily and occasional tracking, good base to upgrade the aftermarket is definitely there!

You obviously haven't see many Misha videos I have no doubts, if you did you'd understand why I see it as embarrassing, show me how many stock cars he has lost brake 1/3 into the ring please show me..!? And I won't even enter the tyre argument we know their crap.

Agree.
Given the car is advertised as a “Performance” you would expect it to hold up better than it did. I’m a novice when it comes to car mods, so my question is what are the best ways to improve grip in the rear? Is it just tyres and coilovers or is there some other secret sauce with this platform?

Tires are the best improvement and the tire you choose depends on your goal.

Exactly right mate some people just cannot accept the Z Performance is utter crap in stock form. Even track laptimes show how slow it is a GR Yaris is way faster in stock form.
Don't confuse acceptance with not caring.
I know the Z isn't the most amazing handling, fastest track car in it's class as stock or even at its' price-point. I don't care. I wasn't looking for the fastest, best track performance car when I got mine. It has nothing to do with acceptance.

I drove with Type Rs and GR86s on the Tail of the Dragon Rt129. They were as good and better. I pulled of course on brief straights but they were on my ass when the twisty curves came lol.

They naturally would be in tighter twisty sections, they'd even be all over a M2 or GR Supra to be fair.

Hey we love and enjoy our Zs for regular cruising and some spirited driving and pulls. Thats what matters! But I have to say basically anyone who doesn't have the RZ34 like Misha found out that it needs improvements for track focused racing. Yes some cars do come from factory better tuned (Honda FK8 FL5) and Toyota(Gr86 and BMW Supra).

We got a beautiful 2 seater GT with competitive engine pumping 400HP @ Motor with wishbone suspension for a bargain price no other manufacter produces .
Agree with your statement other than the bit i highlighted .. here in Aus its not a "Bargain Price " !!!

STD Z is circa AUD $80K.... there are MANY other cheaper options here that absolutely trounce a STD Z in performance!!
