like any other CAI the hardest part is getting the OEM clamps off and dealing the the tight space.

their power gains are almost double what other systems are seeming to net so I would say real world you are talking 8-12hp unless they have a magic trick to theirs.

I currently have K&N drop ins and have content with that for now

Yeah I think I am just going to roll with the standard K&N filters for now. I have done installs like this on other cars (older American V8's with plenty of room) but once the "it's new dont screw with it" mentality wears off in a couple years of owning my Z I might give it a shot.

I always liked the hybrid air box design of being open but meeting up wit the hood when closed. Looks great when the hood is open and does let a little induction sound out. I may trade my Nismo intake in for this...

Looks like there are (optional?) grates you can put on top.

Def a cool looking design when you pop open the hood. It is currently sold out.

Probably because of the sale they have going on. It was available yesterday.

I have the nismo CAI and kept them covered because I don't want warm air from the engine bay going back in. I can still hear the air induction when punching it. The CAI improved pickup from a stand-still position and even in the lower rpm range.

I ordered one. I have a Nismo intake on now but want something nicer to look at and hear. It should be there this week.

Agree with @jc604
Let us know how the install goes. Instructions look pretty good.

I was able to swap out my Nismo intake for the K&N. The Nismo is a very nice OEMish looking intake but its kinda meh in looks and sound. The K&N looks great imo and sound amazing, you get all the turbo noises you paid for but not too loud to overwhelm the exhaust. I decided to omit the two rubber seals on to of the air boxes for a cleaner look and blacked out the K&N logo. I always store my cars after a drive with the hood open to let the hoit air out. Usualy on a turbo car its like opening an oven but the Z is bareley above mabient so not worried about sucking hot air, good job Nissan.

Unrelated but notce how little oil from the breather there is in the passenger side turbo inlet after 7K miles, just a couple of drops, good job Nissan.

Looks great! Aren't the rubber seals around the top to help it met up with the hood so less junk would have a chance of working its' way to the filter?

Yeah it could possibly help keep the filter cleaner, but mostly to seal the top from hot air when the hood is closed. On turbo cars the filters get dirty quicker regardless. Also the access to remove the filters is very easy on this intake.
