I had the same problem. I used the pins from the mirror tap to test fit and verify the power and ground wires. The red wire adaptors have a male pin on both ends.My problem is my multimeter probes are too big to find the always hot vs. the igniton on. I have a way around that now, with a three day weekend ... so I know I can get this to work. If I can open the harness and put the MM on it, then I can tell the hot/not hot and be done with.
There is a white connector on the harness that looks like it will open more, but I can't see well enough to open it.
