Just a quick update on my Proto that i ordered. I received a email/letter via my dealer here in WA today (dated 11th October) that my Proto has been delayed and the expected delivery date is now Feb 2023. The letter is from Nissan Australia.

No specific reason for the delay given, only that if things change they will be in contact. I was also informed that Midland, WA have just received their demo.

I would love more details on the transmission problem, it no doubt required a mechanical fix.
Someone above mentioned "destruction" of components which seems pretty drastic.

strange that they acknowledge the auto transmission poblem with a stop sale notice, but still nothing out there about so called manual transmission problems,

I’d be doubtful of that happening. There was never anything publicly released or even leaked regarding automatic transmissions in Australia. The few dealerships that I’ve spoken with haven’t yet received any correspondence regarding the 6 speed, not that they’re holding inventory anyway.

I’m not saying your dealers dodgy or anything …but this is now a third dealership saying the same thing

There are three explanations.
1…they don’t want you to know what’s going on
2… they are still filling some orders in the largest dealerships and states ( which WA is not), but myself I find that hard to think of given one of the dealers confirming this is in Werribee, so a bigger sort of area from Victoria, not a small state or small dealership ( but still possible)
3…for some reason your dealership was left off the communication or they missed it

Let’s be honest here. If we were to have the cars in Dec, the cars would now be made and either on the way to or on the boat, which would mean dealers would have allocations and know what’s coming, yet none of us ( not even 1) have been told this is the case

The Feb timeline is what my dealer told me. He said shipping in Dec here hopefully in Jan but worst case Feb , so it lines up with Midlands email

Nissan Aus has got a lot of explaining to do, and given they have all our details I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be sending out a group email to everyone to explain, rather than the cloak and mirrors approach and leaving it to dealers to have to put up with the customers fury ….it’s really bad to say the least. And again I say, I feel sorry for the dealers who are being constantly thrown under the bus

At least our cars will be 2023 plated by the time they turn up, as the dealer last said to me, nothing anyone can do at the moment, you've paid your deposit, you will get a car eventually

Ha, this is a laugh alright. Luckily, all i want is for it to arrive when i get to Perth in 2 years to save on transport, so that should happen...right!? ?

Though I'm damn sure none of us thought 2023 would be likely back in '21.

I've shot off my dealership an email today wanting answers, so I'll let you guys know what's up, though I'm guessing I'll be told Feb aswell.

No completely agree. Some dealerships received a memo, many did not. I’ve spoken with two large dealerships in Brisbane and a very popular one in Melbourne (on Friday) and none had received correspondence relating to production delays or manual transmissions problems. Strange on Nissan’s part alright.

My vote is option 1. A business generally does not want to broadcast they have a manufacturing defect. And in this case, since few Zs have been released, Nissan probably figures why publicize the issue. Instead drag out the release several months while things are sorted out. If push comes to shove acknowledge an issue, but don't make a big public confession about it.

Agreed, and as a Nissan rep said to me, they’ve never specifically mentioned a delivery timeframe for customer’s cars so there’s technically no delay to advise of.

I may have missed something, however I think "manual issue only" is an assumption.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the cars already delivered.

That may be the reason for radio silence. Probably need to strategise that.

If you were driving one now, it might pay to enquire about all the scuttlebutt...
