“It means dealers have had to contact those would-be buyers – it’s believed there are hundreds of them – and offer them either their money back or one of the first regular Z Coupes into the country”

I’m so pissed off…so this means someone who placed their order in Jan this year and missed out on the proto will jump those who have had an order in the system for almost a year longer…are they for real!
This is colossal stuff up, if I do not get confirmation that I’m in the first batch I’m pulling the pin 😡

It's a bit ambiguous, I'm choosing to interpret as "first regular [non preorder] Z Coupes into the country."

Nissan Australia is cagey on precisely how long it will take to clear out the Z’s order bank – it is not likely to do so this year, and it could well take more than a year before supply normalises – but company says it is actively negotiating for a greater slice of the new sportscar’s production output.

“You’ll see stock continuing to arrive in coming months and we’ll work with customers to deliver the vehicle as soon as possible, but we’re talking to the factory daily on production allocation and we’re trying to secure more than our fair share of the new Z,” - Travis Maher, Nissan Australia Senior Product Marketing Manager.

Your much more optimistic than me…I don’t find it ambiguous at all
“Regular” as in…non Proto

As to trying to get more than our fair share…I’m sure all countries are doing the same thing

Honestly.. an order placed in May 2022 is NOT jumping ahead of all orders placed throughout 2021. Not a chance. Customers would burn Nissan to the ground.

Some fun stats that I hadn't seen before.

https://7news.com.au/NissanZ

The new Nissan Z has so far had over 1200 orders in Australia and much to the delight of the company and car enthusiasts, about 70 per cent of them have been for the six-speed manual transmission.

In terms of other figures, the most popular colour has been blue with super black roof (26 per cent of orders) and Everest white with super black roof (16 per cent of orders).

so 40% of pre orders are for Proto's

but blue at 26% is most popular colour

right...

There was no colour choice for the Proto so it's can't be included in colour popularity stats.

yes but most people who pre ordered (note most not all) who wanted yellow ordered the proto.

so really the pre oder for yellow will be 40+ %

now at least half of thosewho didn't get a slot so what they change to will be more revealing.
