Ha, you reckon the kilometres on a mkiv supra would make much difference at all to what they'd sell for right now? I bet there'd be ones on there with 70, 80, 90+ kilometres on the clock for as much as these new Zs are going for.

No one has a crystal ball. Who knows what will be tomorrow's desire.
I think it’s more about getting to engage in a passion and at least not losing money. I know that $10k invested today should be worth at least $20k in 10 years, $40k in 20 - but then that investment brings me zero joy in the time between now and then. There’s something more special about my $80k car being worth maybe $150k in 20 years (even $100k - or even $80k).

I also collect / play guitars and while I always think about resale when I buy, I buy them to play (and do). I’m a great buyer- terrible seller, but guitars easier to store than cars.

Well you are correct in the next FnF does have a Z in it!

But the entire market is messed up currently.

I was shopping 1st gen Aston Martinv8 vantages in 2019
Ok ones were in the 60s
I swore as soon as they hit 50s I was pulling trigger.

that’s a 100k car now.

market slowly looks to be returning to normal how long that will take I have no idea.

I just want to come back to the gear box discussion that had some people a little concerned.
I posted this in a FB discussion a few days back

"I went out to Warwick last week and the temp was about 3c and it was considerably more noticeable until the gearbox warmed up (maybe 10 mins)
I wonder if the current reports of grindy gearboxes we've seen from Canada are due to lower temps (although mid 20s C indicated on dash). Where most of the previous reviews were from California and Nevada (summer temps)"

Now with Shmee's video doing the rounds I believe temp is really the big issue here. (testing in California again)
He's obviously used to hypercars with flappy paddle gearboxs. Yet he's able to row gears (LHD) in this relatively cheap unsophisticated car without complaint and says it's really good (maybe because less experience with manual?)

I think there is a bit in this if you read between the lines.

My thoughts are every region had the opportunity to get 240 proto z's. Given it's a cosmetic upgrade of the performance pack, there would be no logistical reason not to build them. It then becomes an economic decision on getting the right balance of Proto versus Performance to satisfy the market..

Whilst we would all say they will sell as many as they make, the reality is the next 12 months for our economy is going to be interesting. The reason that becomes important is because of the extended build and delivery times.

It also might explain the delay in Performance allocations, until he locks in the total Protos, how do they give those missing out first right of reply. <- That is likely to fire up WA... I don't see it happening en mass.

Surely unsuccessful Proto customers won’t jump queue in front of earlier Coupe customers.

Was my understanding that if a Proto order could not be filled the client would be offered a performance…BUT would be put in line based on their order date.
So if they ordered a Proto in December, they would be put into the coupe list behind those who ordered before that time.
This is what should happen, otherwise they could well have a revolt on their hands, as people will publish on Facebook…questions will be asked as to when the order was placed, and people will know if they have been jumped …it would not go down well

This is pretty much what happened with me. I missed out on the proto so they updated my contract with the performance. They specifically didn't update the date on the contract so that I maintained my place in the queue.

This was my understanding of how they were dealing with it…glad to hear confirmation of it.
BUT…I wish they would start allocating coupes. They have obviously finished Protos….so why can they not get a start on the coupes and inform owners if they will have a car this year, or next year
Don’t want to keep saying the same thing. But they have peoples money, some transparency in exchange is not too much to ask
