Spoke to the salesperson who gave me some actual info...

Nissan has advised ETA for first batch arriving in Aus is around July. Limited to 250 cars across the country so each dealer will likely get 7-8 cars max.

I reckon I will miss out on the first round given how late to the party I was in preordering.

According to Google there are 91 Nissan dealerships in Australia so those numbers don't really add up...though presumably city dealers would get more allocated than those in woop woop.

Never know your luck….and that is new news.
250 is a figure we haven’t heard yet, someone said we would only get Protos first, but surely we wouldn’t be getting 250 ( the same as the US) that would hardly make them “limited”
Hoping 100 Protos, 150 normal….this would make sense too because my dealer said they were only expecting 4 for the first allocation and when I was last discussing if my order was for a Proto or a performace, the order lady let slip that only one person out of their 8 orders had requested a proto

Mine said they now have over 50 preorders - most of which are for the proto. I quickly said I'd be just as happy with a yellow manual non-proto! Reckon I'm not getting one either way in the first batch.

You picked up on that better than me…didn’t even think
91 dealers …city dealers and those registered as GT/ Nismo dealerships will be serviced better than those who are not

Time will tell I suppose but July is not to far away @cainen remind me….did you order a proto or performance

just answered my question?…I ordered yellow non proto, first order in the state…but interested to know if it will actually be just Protos arriving in the first deliver as some rumours suggest

I did order a proto but at the time told them my next preference was a non-proto yellow manual. They said no worries but not sure if they actually noted it down in their system ?‍♂

They should have finalised your order and confirmed that it’s correct with Nissan Aus …if they put through a Proto before the “sold out” came up on the reservation list, you should get your Proto

One of the dealers I placed an order for was Liverpool Nissan, when I rang them last week for any kind of update they said they were expecting
some cars in July, could not confirm If I would be getting one though.
The Wollongong Nissan dealer that I also have a pre order with had a different story as I mentioned previously, their spin was that my pre order was going to production and to expect a car in October.
All we can do is sit back and wait.
Nissan USA estimates spring for their release and sale date, this gives them about two months more before spring is over.

My dealer told me back in Feb there'd be 250 protos coming to Aus but I suspect he might have pulled that out his ass, (or seen the US figure and applied it here)

If that’s true the”proto” really just means, inflated price to pose
250 in the US 250 Aus, more in Japan, more in Canada …not that limited, and given you can get yellow, spray your breaks, change your rims…the only real difference is a couple of badges and some stitching . Indeed normal yellow may be more limited for a couple of years than proto

I'm not sure that’s going to be worth even a few thousand extra, and I’m sure it will be more that

But I know many of you guys have ordered …each to their own, and I’m not knocking you for that choice.

Kinda think this is the type of thing Nissan Aus should be telling buyers though

It should be 240 Proto's not 250 as the 240 number for the limited amount to be built for the Proto Spec in the US and Japan is to pay tribute to the original Z the 240Z.

So if they are saying 250 then that would not be correct as the most any market should get would be 240.

The Australian and Canadian markets are yet to know exactly how many Proto spec's they will receive only the US and Japanese markets have been confirmed to get 240 each.

Yet another slow news day.

But on a positive note, Woolworths has these for $2.40.
Grabbed a few, looking forward to painting them up.

I’d love one!
