But it’s not a Z. You’ve waited so so long. Don’t give up on the last lap. There will always be second hand Z4s (OK it’s sort of a Z) and other good second hand cars - i think only this one chance to own a new Z (manual)
Hubby is playing a part too…he is mighty pissed off about waiting so long, my son is also very over his mother using his car
I get what you’re saying …but the Z4 was so pretty
I’m gonna sit on it for a couple of days.
It doesn’t help knowing that people who had delivery dates estimated as April haven’t got their cars yet…and nor are theirs on ships

@West Aussie
I'd highly encourage you to wait...

Having picked up my car just a measly 11 days ago..
It's worth the wait, the joy it brings is priceless - in yourself and in others.

I passed a Z4 on my drive this weekend, red convertible.
The Z next to the Z4 is no comparison, the Z is superior in sentiment, I don't really care for numbers and measures (0-60, speaker quality, this, that, who cares...). The experience the Z brings is next to none.

I even stopped at a red light next to a lambo aventador and got thumbs up and smiles from that guy...

As Hammo said, you waited this long, don't give up at 40km on a 42km marathon...
Yes dealer suck more then anything in the current world, and damn Nissan HQ aint better.

But they are a chapter in the journey, not the journey itself.
Hold out, my 2 cents (or a nickel from Canada)

Look at the cost of just preventive maintenance on the BMW (oil changes, etc.). Even if nothing major breaks, general long term ownership is more expensive on the BMW.

Yeah I did think about that…on the flip side it uses a third less fuel,

….and who really wants to be pushed back in their seat anyway? 🙄
Well yeah there is that.

But I think the thing you guys are forgetting is a am a mum.
Do I like the feel of the fast take offs….certainly
But I also like comfort, looks and all the tech you can get …because it will be my everyday ride, not just a weekender and definitely not a track car for me.

The problem with me is I am someone with one foot in either camp as they say.
I’m acutely aware that the cars are totally different, and very much also aware that they appeal to different markets.

I love fast take offs (my Peugeot was so much fun)
But I also love comfort interiors.
My problem is the Z misses a lot of things that a car at this price point should have …things that cars selling for 40k have, like Sat nav, auto wipers, Apple play without plug etc…yes I completely understand that it is not the purpose of the car and these things may seem minor to you guys where the power is the number one priority, BUT I still think for the money these things should be standard. It’s hard stand to defend when my parents say…you paid what for that cat? When their Hyundai 2022 model has all the bells and whistles and cost half .
In short, I’m a mum so I’m always looking at value for money and I can’t help but feel the Z has missed some things it really shouldn’t, and I believe once the hype dies down the cars values will drop instantly

In all honesty if I could go back in time…I would still have my Peugeot RCZ Type R and not sell it. Beautiful to look at, extremely powerful, extremely rare and almost enough tech to satisfy me (and more than the 7 even though it would have been 9 years old now) I am constantly kicking myself for selling it, and there are not even any Type Rs to buy second hand because there were so few made, and half were written off.

I really am struggling to decide what I want and what’s more important.

If I knew the Z was coming in the next month, I’d probs stick it out, just down to the sheer fact I know I’d have 5 years where I shouldn’t have to spend any money on it (unless I choose to do so)
But here’s the thing….they have been telling me it’s coming and should have been here since Feb 2021, and as I said I’m also contending with my son who quite rightly wants his car back. He paid for it after all.

FWIW I think the Z4 and Nissan Z's are completely different cars (number of seats/doors aside).
Get a Z4 if you want a car that has everything you want and you won't look to mod.
Get a Z if you want something to modify.

The Z's trim is very, VERY lackluster. Just bought my mum a $25k Mazda on the weekend that has far superior tech and safety than the Z in just about every way... The real copium for me is that I have a platform that I can improve upon, quite dramatically.

Exactly..you understand my conundrum

I’m not going to mod other than perhaps a louder exhaust and perhaps a better audio system ….nothing performance wise, because it’s an everyday er not a tracker.

And I also agree the Z interior was kinda disappointing for me, when I sat in the Z4 it felt like luxury right off the bat.

Question for me is, does luxury feel more important than the moments of exhilaration on take off, that’s basically what it comes down too…and the answer is, well I am in a pickle and can’t decide what is more important.

Look if I had a spare 200k I’d be buying the new Lotus which satisfies both needs, sadly I do not
Porsche are nice but looking at almost double to get anything decent and even then it would be second hand again with the same issue of no warranty and the exterior whilst nice is still lacking compared to the Z4

And this is why I’m in no woman’s land…I kinda wished I never viewed the Z4 as I wasn’t expecting to be so enthused and went to look on my husbands request, but I did and loved it.
We will call the original dealer where it’s been serviced and see if they will offer any insights …that may or may not make a decision easier

Don’t get me wrong the Z is fast and will be fun to drive ….but as @Proto Z has said, I wasn’t blown away with the interior or what you “get” for the money

Lotus Emira > Z or Z4 :)
If that were a geniune option, that is where I'd go! (good luck getting one for $200k though, the options list is longer than the wait time for a Z...)

Also, keep in mind a 6cyl Z4 is going to be faster in pretty much every way compared with a stock Z, but if you spend Z4 money on a stock Z, the Z will be much faster again!

I really think it depends how you want to use it. The Z4 will suit a daily driver who is used to relatively modern conveniences. A Z will suit someone who specifically wants to modify it to 'make it their own' or a weekend warrior who will occasionally drive during the week, but head off up the mountains or to a track on weekends. In terms of new cars the Z is still one of the cheaper options around, so beating on it doesn't feel so bad.

For me, personally, I'm always about the looks of a car - and I love the look of the new Z. Nothing better looking on the roads right now. Period.
If you start with a good looking car, you can make it handle or perform anyway you want it to with mods.

Imo, if you enjoy the Z4 that much that's what I would get. As much as I hate to say it, the Z and its direct competitors are getting to a level of fast that's not going to be regularly useable on the road.

It a Z4 20i M so it’s not going to be faster than the Z..but still fun enough I feel.
I like both cars aesthetics on the exterior…but the Z4 interior is far better

Thanks to everyone giving me food for thought. I’m not sure if it’s helped because my brain says get the new car with the new car warranty with 0 issues that you will have to pay for.
But my heart is torn…and everyone knows that woman are guided by their hearts rather than a sensible head when it comes to shopping.🤣

Going to have a second look tomorrow, this time husband and son in tow, will hopefully feel in a better place to decide what I prefer after that.

It is tricky in that I’m also aware that the mere fact the Z4 is available today and I could have it in my driveway tomorrow is a temptation in itself

Similarly I would feel bad for Tass (my latest dealer) as I said I would give him to the end of the month for the car to be on the ship. But after two years of Nissan breaking their word, I kinda think I’ve got every right to do the same

Decision is easier than I thought... Don't get the 4 cyl z4!

Jump on a plane to Brissy and I'll throw you the keys to my Z for a weekend. Plane ticket is cheaper than a missed opportunity! :)

I’ve already test driven the Z…so I know what it feels like. But thanks anyway

2 more car carriers unloaded at Freo today…still no Zs

I am not going to help with your decision. If it were an everyday driver, I'd be getting the Z4. It's just a better car across the board.

I'd go pretty hard on the price and let that decide for you. e.g. ask for a few $k more off the asking. :)

The Z rush will settle and Ver 2.0 will be the one to have long term.

By the time Nissan confirm the delivery date to @West Aussie it may well be Ver 2.0
