So, next time you get mad at someone for not wearing a facemask, or a dealer marking up a vehicle in tight supply, get mad at China for fucking putting us in dystopia world, stop getting mad at people who didn't create the damn problem.
The ADM practice didn't happen because of the pandemic, but way to go to blame it on that.

Good discussions here, and Shawn stepping up still promising no more than $5K over MSRP, hopefully lower. Question for @West Aussie are buyers there also flipping cars for hugely more $$, like what’s happening here in the US? If so, aren’t the dealers responding to that? No, because of the regulations, correct?

US dealers are never on the customers’ side because they gauge everything based on the market. Buyers flipping cars should NOT affect dealer pricing, dreaded ADMs! The Aus model, if works there, should also work here. But guess what, GREED takes over. It’s pretty obvious what you see on window stickers, sad.

Bottom line is, here if you want MSRP or less, got to wait a year or two, or longer. The dealer model sucks, nothing has changed!

I know that in Ford’s case, those looking for Mach 1s and GT500s are happy with Granger and Chapman dealers. They take online and phone orders and somehow set workable pricing, undercutting others. Why? They depend on volume selling at lower costs to consumers. It works. Their reputations are good based on forum feedbacks; forums word of mouth gets them more sales.
Car Flipping was all but unheard of here until this year….but it’s still VERY rare…a quick look on car sales and entering price range high to low, shows the new cars are still the most expensive. For instance the Nismo. There is one guy trying to sell his car above new car prices, that’s it…and it will sit there for a good long while, maybe forever unless he decreases his price
The rest are all priced lower than the new cars.

With the Z, one dealer told me that Nissan Aus was worried this could happen…and to mitigate that they were asking for a deposit. Nissan has never asked for a deposit for a new car before, at least nit until they have consignments
The deposit was designed to lock people in ( even though they really are not) and not dealer hop.
They have a list of buyers at head office Meaning double up orders could be easily seen.
Because It’s not something that’s ever really happened, and because on the most part new is still mire expensive than flipped people feel it’s a big risk to buy solely for the purpose of flipping. There may be a handful of people that will try, but there will be very few.

if they all refused to pay it would change…however I do concede this is not likely to happen., and so yes there is little YOu can do. The dealer on the other hand…

I asked a question to see if there was anything I could see that justifies the price hike…that’s all.
And as we disagree, I did end my last correspondence saying we have to agree to disagree but thanks for explaining…meaning it could of been the end of MY question, but then others responded to me so I respond back.
What is interesting is vast majority of people like me, don’t understand the logic.
But that’s ok. As long as everyine stays civil, then debate and conversation can never be a bad thing
Trust me, no angst towards you, I'm just getting tired of hearing about it in multiple threads. We in the US can't do anything about it.

It's like complaining about your job or politics, no matter how much you and your coworkers agree on those issues, no matter how much we discuss it, no matter all of our good ideas or hope, employers just get stupider and we wake up every day to even stupider politicians than we had last week. (BTW I'm a gov employee, hence those 2 topics getting mentioned)

I'm at the point now, to save stress, I'm going to take a very casual approach to getting a new Z. I'll make reasonable attempts to secure one for the right price, willing to travel (maybe I'll go see the op?) But not going to lose sleep over it. These last 2 years have been shit, don't want it to be worser.

^^^^^^hey I hear you, and at least you are civil…open discussion is always good when you are honestly trying to see each other’s view. And no matter the topic people will always have differing opinions

Where I live at present we have bare shelves everywhere…not just dealers, but food, everything.
And not. due to covid, our one train line connecting supplies from the East of Aus to WA was washed out completely, so no food getting through for 6 weeks….funny thing is, food prices didnt go up, I was sure they would, but nope

in other good news we will finally be permitted to leave our state for a holiday on March 6…this covid crap has really stuffed everything, and the government has taken full advantage….but that’s another discussion for another day ?

Where did I say that?

Pull your head out of your ass, and I'll give you your own "way to go" plus a golf clap too.
Look at the last paragraph I quoted you on. You made it sound like ADM wasn't a thing until the pandemic when everything goes wild because of certain country. The ADM practice didn't get invented with the pandemic. It only got amplified. You may not be blaming it on the pandemic but that was just a wrong place to insert your rant about it.

"Sound like" isn't the same as saying "ADM only exists due to pandemic"
Almost every single vehicle deal with ADM these days is ACTUALLY directly attributed to the pandemic. And I did mention elsewhere that Honda was being "shitty" for intentionally limiting production of the CTR, thereby creating a market for the CTR that proved to be mostly ADM on that car, before the pandemic. So I don't have some ranting delusions that ADM only exists because of pandemic.

But, yeah, be snarky about it, good on you. "Rant" my ass, it's all facts. Nothing I said is not factual

I recommend just to work with Shawn @McLovin157 since he stepped up here. If he holds up to his promise NO MORE THAN $5K over MSRP, possible less depending on trim popularity, and no local dealers can match, order from him and do a road trip back. His dealership will benefit from higher sales numbers and possibly more allocations from Nissan. Like I said, those who worked with Granger in PA and Chapman in NY have gotten their Fords with good final pricing.

Those that no way will buy over MSRP, no need to chime in again, just have to wait past these first allocations......
