I've researched extended warranties, but right now, I'm thinking no. I'll just pay for any issues until I replace her.

Still so much fun to drive.
I've been declining extended warranties on my vehicles since 1995.

Unless you can get your money back if an extended warranty goes unused by term expiration, this has saved me tons of money. I've never had a vehicle outside of factory warranty make me regret it.

Of course, modern cars are different, I may consider an extended warranty in the future if I ever lose my butt on a major repair. I have a '21 Titan and being a modern vehicle, there's too much expensive crap under the hood compared to my previous vehicles. My factory warranty expired last month and I'm on my own now. I plan on getting a different truck in 10 years (I keep my trucks a long time) and if it bites me, I'll definitely consider an extended warranty in the future.

Me too. My stance has been based on the reliability of the vehicles I've owned in the past (Pathfinder, G35, G37). These weren't perfect, but none of them had to have the intake system ripped out just before the warranty expired. If it had happened a few days later, I'd have been SOL (and much angier).

And cars are way more complex (but also more efficiently powerful) than my 90s Pathfinder, 00s G35, and 10s G37. I may need to change my stance in the future.

Totally agree. The sunroof in my Titan leaked 3 weeks before the 5/100k bumper to bumper was expired.

Although my '21 Titan is basically a revised version of my '07 Titan, Nissan added:
Expensive LED exterior lighting
Coolant distribution valve assembly (in place of the good ol' thermostat)
Direct injection which has way more ways to break
Active grille shutters
Radar guidance sensors
Complicated 9 speed automatic (like the Z)

Aaaaaannnddd.... It's a pandemic vehicle 😞

I feel like I'm playing with fire here.... Gonna roll the dice. My biggest concern is that Nissan doesn't have good parts availability after a model is discontinued. Even with an extended warranty, they may not be able to get OEM parts for it.
I'm strongly considering getting a Toyota for my next truck, since they're so popular, Toyota usually keeps the parts available for even longer than a warranty would cover (not including "lifetime" warranties because those are a farce)

We had a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L V6 (190HP) 5MT overlapping with our 03 G35. Very solid vehicle. Not a single issue. No idea about current-gen Toyotas.

Tundra is OUT.
Tacoma is doing very well so far. And I need to downsize anyways.

Speaking of Tundra, NHTSA released a study concluding what they believe is causing the TTV6 to detonate the front bearing, the timing chain system tension is relatively high and the cylinder pressures are relatively high also (high specific force of each of the 6 cylinders pushing downward).
So they assert that the timing chain system is pulling upwards on the crank bearing whilst cylinders 1 & 2 are pushing downward, taking this bearing out of axial alignment. That explains why it's always the front crank bearing and why the replacement engines and revised newer engines are still failing. It does seem strange that Toyota would make such a mistake, and if it's true, holy crap it's a big whoopsie.

Also forgot, my wife's Corolla Hatchback left her stranded with 18k miles on the odometer when the electric water pump failed. Her car has proven to be less reliable than my Titan, and with only 28k miles so far, it has so many interior rattles, creaks and pops from the suspension. My Titan has more miles and still drives like new, and I thrash on it. My wife is a typical petite Asian driver who doesn't abuse her car. I'm not buying the "Toyota is the best" crap anymore. All modern vehicles seem to suck now...
