Title. Tried looking high and low for the diameter on this exhaust but I can't find anything concrete. Though I'm betting its likely not the 3" I'm hoping for. Anyone happen to know?

Almost positive it’s 2.5” or metric equivalent. Just a quick question, Z1 puts down 600 wheel hp with ease through a single 3”. Why the desire for dual 3”?

I have an AWE 3.0" dual exhaust I am looking to sell if you are interested.

It's not that I dislike a single exit, but I prefer a dual. I'd be more likely to entertain Z1's dual exit touring if it was 3", but the midpipe I believe is 2.5".

Nissan V6's in general (VQ+) tend to be plagued by the trombone effect with a lot of exhaust systems, and it's a bit of a niche market for some reason to find dual 3" system that doesn't carry that sound.

I looked at the AWE but it has a pretty rough rasp at low rpm's that turned me away from it.

I'd really like that FI but if its 2.5" that's going to be a deal breaker for me, and I assume that will be the case.

I believe this is the lower downpipe, specifically the flange that mounts to the cat. It flares after the flange, so id guess it’s about 1/2” larger than the cat exit. Don’t know what that is though, or if the diameter decreases downstream. I read multiple places, I think google AI said it as well, that FI’s standard diameter is 76mm, or 3”, and their Ultimate Power series are 89mm or 3.5”.

The Z1 stuff is duel 2.5 into a Y pipe that is single 3” and then splits into duel 2.5” again on the touring exhausts and on the competition it’s duel 3”

duel 3” doesn’t make a difference until around 800 hp and up.
Single 3” or duel 2.5” isn’t going to restrict our engines. It’s up to you of course. Some people like the extra diameter for the sound. Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t about power output.
I think the VR-30 is less of a trombone than the VQ. Especially with the restriction of the turbines.
Good luck with finding the perfect tone. I’m still on the hunt myself.

I'd say its less of a trombone/low brass sound than VQ's, but they didn't escape it by any means.

Looking for an optimal exhaust has been kind of an issue with this car, but the more specific I get the more its just a result of my own criteria. Certain things though like the no trombone sound are an absolute basic attribute I need that low end exhausts seem to fall victim to while the 3" dual is largely a preference I want to have.

Some exhausts like the AWE don't sound bad necessarily but they tend to have a very bad rasp/buzz on rev down around probably 2-3,000 rpm. The AWE is pretty notorious with that.

Soho's dual system looks like a good option but the price just seems excessive for what it is and the volume is probably too loud for daily driving especially with full downpipes. FI looks good but I'm betting that I'm going to find the diameter is sub 3"

That does give me *some* semblance of hope that it could be 3", but with the muffler design I'm betting it tapers down. If it sounds good I might be able to get around that but I'd prefer the headroom.

Most people seem to say the awe is drone free. Is this untrue?
From the videos I've watched it didn't sound as clean as I wanted it to; and that awful buzz on rev down was what turned me off of it, but to be fair I've heard a few other exhaust with that same issue.

Heard back from FI's sales team. They say its "averaged at 2.75" and "some portion of the pipes is 3." "

I'm debating on what to do at this point. I really don't want a sub 3" exhaust on the car, but I might be willing to take a 2.75" being that its a true dual. I still feel that is a bit small though.

I am confused as to what you think sub 3” will do or not do for you?
Also. Check out AAM. They have a true duel 3” you may not have seen.
