If you didnt know, there is a Emergency Trunk Release finger pull cable under the foam behind the driver seat

I can’t tell if this is a crossmember or the transmission tunnel side. It looks like it’s on the bulkhead crossmember behind the driver seat towards the outside of the car? Can you clarify exactly where it is?
Good info, thanks for the tip!

You would think with today's safety regulations we would need one with a more prominent tag on it, one that glows in the dark like trunk ones do. It would be hard to find in an emergency , but I guess the hatch is viewed differently than a trunk.

There is no bulkhead separating the hatch area from the cabin, so no handle needed. This is simply a secondary release in case the actuator fails.

Yeah they would have required one if safety regulations forced them to do it. But I would like to have a strap on that and I will look at doing something there like some members have shown straps in the other thread. I just think if the car ever flipped over on the driver door, I might want to escape out of the hatch.

Or... Here me out

If Ai took over your car and all electronics were locked out and door handles no longer allow for you to escape. This is that time to use the pull lever to jump out the hatch 🤷🏽‍♂️

Or if my vape device accidentally started a fire up front in the cabin I could escape to the back with a second hatch opening device. I don't vape or smoke but if it ever did happen I would be okay.

I also forgot about the hatch switch we have on the center console, that should good enough.

Good for if your battery goes flat. PITA to get to from inside.

I like the analog front door locks and pulls, hell, the analog seat heaters, temp controls, and radio buttons. Archaic but much easier to use than the monster touchscreen in the wife's brand new Ram 1500 that controls every damn thing... intermitently.
