Curious as to your experience driving around with mods that are not legal in your state? Im in California and lots aren't legal. Just exhaust can get you ticketed here 🫩. Always feel a bit anxious when just cruising around that I will get pulled over and have to take all the shit off, then put it back on after inspections 😀. But I just like a mean sounding car! Ahh the World we live in.

No issues here with mods. But speeding is illegal and will get you a ticket.

Florida’s a different story. At least north Florida, anyway. Diesel Ford pickups with dual basketball diameter exhaust coming up through the front of the bed like a semi, spewing soot like a coal powered train. Full sized pickups with the front bumper 4 feet off the ground and the rear bumper so low it almost scrapes. Chargers that sound like they don‘t even have headers are as plentiful as Camrys.

Next up for me is coilovers and adjustable upper control arms.. I like the Don’t want to lower too much, maybe 3/4”, but want some tunability. Out of curiosity I looked into those auto-lift suspensions like on the new Corvette, 911’s, etc. That is a WAY more complicated system than I imagined.

“Carolina Squat” Law

squatting has become popular here - so bad it has been banned. It‘s called “Carolina Squat” Law. lol. You know you have arrived when they have to create a law for you. lol

For sure, I am around 3/4 inch lowered on mine and just make it over speed bumps and steeper type driveways so its not too much of a pain. You talking about air bag type suspension?

In TN the only restrictions are:

Carolina Squat - banned, front bumper can't be more than 4 inches higher than the rear. Not relevant to the Z anyway (I hope? 😧)
Ride height - frame can't be more than 22" off the ground for cars, and the vehicle as a whole cannot exceed 13'6". Also not relevant to the Z, but would be hilarious and/or sad to see.
Mufflers - required, must prevent "excessive or explosive" noise.
Wheels - steering cannot be modified, must meet or exceed 12" wheel diameter.
Emissions testing is not required anywhere in the state, Davidson County was the last to drop it.

Outside that you're pretty much free to my knowledge, so I don't have any relevant experience.

Are you still on full downpipes and tuned?

I’m also in “The People’s Republic of Kalifornia”. 😂. And I can’t stand all of the overbearing laws. All about money and control. Has almost nothing to do with the actual environment. A buddy of mine works with a guy that has a 350z who was just ticketed for modified exhaust. The cop could tell it was modified because he has a single exit exhaust. Now. As long as he meets the db laws and still has his factory cats he will be just fine. But he now has to go to the ref and have it checked. I do worry because I want full downpipes. And they aren’t easy to return to stock if you need to go have it signed off on. 😤

Didn’t know it had a formal name. All I can say is it’s FINALLY ONE idiotic thing not tied to Florida. Our list is already long enough.

assuming you're talking about noise levels, going on almost a year now with the ams full downpipes and have had 0 issues. cops don't really seem to care here as long as you don't force them to (at least in the sj area). valves are also an option if you're overly concerned, but they're also not cheap 😂
