So of course I can’t just get an oil change without damage.

Is there a way to polish this piano black crap or will it have to be replaced?

They can be popped off and replaced. Taking them off usually breaks two of the clips on the old one(s)., in my experience.

So you can’t just wrap them in shiny black (or another color) vinyl. That is unless the person doing it is really good at not breaking panel clips.

Time for some carbon fiber accents? They don't scratch as easily.

Get you a small diameter orbital cut pad and use menzerna brand polish because it's the the best? to get that scratch out. Welcome to piano black paint. It won't be the last. Bird poop dried on mine. Wiping with a wet soft microcloth still left a micro scratch on my piano black paint. So of course I use a orbital with green cut pad to polish and then wax to a pleasing finish.

Worth a shot to try and polish it in place. I had to replace one… came from Japan.

Did you asked them to fix it for you?

Unfortunately it is black plastic, not paint. My understanding is that it will create a haze using polish. But see below. Dealer claims they’ll fix it. I just hope they don’t try to polish it.

Yes, and they say they will. I’m concerned their plan is to polish it, which I don’t believe will work. If they don’t want to replace it, I’ll just have a body shop do it and when I have to go back to the dealer remind them they damaged my car and to not do it again or the damage is on them. We’ll see on Monday when I can return their voicemail.

I had some pretty light surface scratches on mine when I purchased the car, I had the shop that did my PPF give them a light polish before covering them with clear PPF. I think they turned out fine, but I'd be hesitant to let some kid that works at a Nissan dealership take a crack at it...I can almost see the rotary buffer induced holograms now. I'd find a legitimate detailer and have them do the work, then give the invoice to the dealership for reimbursement.

Jeez. A pair from Japan costs $114 obo. I got my pair for slightly less than that with free shipping! The dealer gets them at cost. Tell them to order you one and replace it! I’ve decided Buffing or Scratch removal is a waste of time: $50-100 for new OEM replacement(s) if you pay out of pocket.

Show the dealer this if they want to ‘buff it out’. Pffft… their mistake, they replace it.

Here you go, show them this:
OEM Z lock pillar Finishers (B-Piilar)

If you like carbon fiber finish you could get the caps that go on top of these, would still try and get dealer to fix fist

Thinking the same thing. It’s actually cheaper to buy OEM replacement(s) in n ePay than buy Carbon Fiber caps. And you still have a spare if the other side gets scratched or worn. But if you like the Carbon Fiber look… go for it!

From the sounds of it, 370Z share the same B-pillar with the Z?
