Back Lights

Hello! Quick question about the back lights. I am talking about the left and right side inner lights, do they actually work or are they there for styling purposes? I thought I saw a picture somewhere online that these lights actually lights up but maybe it was a tuning or modification on the back lights. Please see the attached picture and you know which lights I am talking about.

If they do work, how do you turn them on?

It's a backup light and a reflector. In some markets (e.g.US) there are two backup lights, and in others one side is backup and the other is fog (e.g. Canada).

A switch on the turn signal stalk controls the fog light.
