I would also like the Z to stick around and have a makeover on a brand new chassis (the FM platform is ancient).

Of course the New N platform underlying my IS 500 is also ancient so maybe I don't know anything.

Also, some power folding mirrors and adaptive suspension would be cool.

It's nice to have the newest, SOA stuff but, for me, having a proven design that's been around for awhile and had the bugs worked-out of it is a big plus. I had a Toyota Avalon based on a design that had been around for years. It didn't have the latest and greatest but the thing was about as bullet proof as you can get for a car. Not temperamental at all and it was a ride I could count on. That's why my other car is now a Lexus ES350, basically an upscale version of the old Avalon but with the same wonderful V6.

Definitely a bright spot for Nissan; they have been paying dearly for several decades of mistakes that were made in product design and, more importantly, their finance and vehicle leasing structure. Their impact on the global automotive market is significant, and I’m guessing that if things had become more dire for them (and they aren’t out of the woods yet), a strategic bankruptcy with preservation of core assets would be a likely outcome. What does this mean? Even in the worst case scenario, there would probably be ongoing support for our Z cars for a while. But I, like most everyone else on this thread, really hope that the automotive heritage/legacy of the brand continues to thrive/evolve and that some of their most noteworthy, classic designs (hello R35) as well as new top shelf designs will enter the marketplace and succeed.

Their key ingredient is Espinosa, he's a total car enthusiast, understands Nissan's heritage and sees a lot of that in its future. We know sports cars/coupes aren't the best sellers but drawing interest back to Nissan is hugely critical. The Z, future GTR, Skyline/Infiniti etc hopefully revives the brand, but also can't ignore quality, has to improve across the board.

Yay Nissan! Our 23 Sentra, 24 Z and 26 Pathfinder have all been top notch builds.

This makes me happy. I bought a shit ton of $4 stock a couple years ago maybe good things will cometh from that too.

It's typically what's best for the brand versus just picking-up the supposedly latest and greatest bean counting executive who sees no difference between churning out tons of toilet paper and top-notch automobiles. I'm hoping for a bright future for the Z, with the recognition of the importance of maintaining a halo car that is deep within the heritage of Nissan.

This picture is goofy. It looks like it is made to look as if they are driving down the road (hand on wheel, smiling, looking forward, angle of the picture...etc). However they are obviously half-on the shoulder of the road at a dead stop next to a bunch of skid-marks like the marketing team for wherever this came from had some fun in the Z before they remembered "Oh yeah were supposed to be taking some beauty pics."

I'd like to point out that I was part of their dark ages when I had the pleasure (I'm being facetious here) of owning a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE. I'm not lying when I say that was by FAR the worst vehicle I have ever owned and it's not even close.

Without question, I’ll never forget the Nissan vehicles I’d end up with as rentals during that era - Altima, Rogue….blech. Bad ride, bad look and the nightmare CVT.

I think the leaders of the organization have realized that this era of their past is something they need to call on:




I believe the current Z is an acknowledgement of their heritage and excellence. It’s a special car….the gravity of which won’t be realized for years to come.

One of the things more people are starting to realize, and some tell me that, is that the new Z's bloodline is still pure and very much analog, appreciated in today's overly electronic assisted automotive world. Heck more and more are wanting manual audio and HVAC dials and column stalks instead of touch screen controls. No more CVT please, I think Ivan realizes all this, go Nissan!!
