I test drove a Nismo z 2 months ago, enjoyed it
Tested another one yesterday before going to pull the trigger and.... Almost hated it?
There was a sensor error which they said is just a software update part and needs nothing on screen during drive

Regardless, primarily in sport but also standard iirc it would skip shifts. So like hold onto 2ns gear then finally realize I'm not tramping it and went to 4th, or it would like do ultra fast mini shifts but you'd feel everyy one of them almost jerky like? Like from 7th to 2nd or something

Is it because their dealer principle who has been driving it has been thrashing or driving funnily hence the trans is behaving funny, or have I just been misled by my first test drive compared to 2nd?!

Is this the same 9 spd in the Merc glc which is considered meh? I'll deal with a manual on daily if it's this bad and jumpy normally...

The transmission sucks if it's cold. When it's warmed up and in sport/sport+, it's significantly better. The lurching during manual shifts disappears once it's warm. If you're not in a rush, wait for the manual nismo.

I wouldn't say it disappears though, particularly with downshifts in the 3-2-1 range. But yeah once the trans fluid is warm it works better.

First gear is only useful when coming to a stop or doing launches. Most driving will be in 2-9. On track, I find myself staying between 3 and 5.

Same. Actually that one review of the GT4 Nismo the guy said 1st gear is almost like a clutch, can't downshift to first unless the car is completely stopped.

The temp outside wasn't cold
Does this car *learn how U drive" and which model does it base it's Merc transmission off?

Is it jumpy and jolty in daily driving on standard auto? Period?
Like I can't buy a car that requires me to warm up / wait for the jolting to stop if that makes sense

Everything else about the car I really enjoy :/ just don't want to feel shit around town everyday

A sensor error could definitely put the car into limp mode if it senses there's an issue.

My guess is this was 100% of the problem. Surprised they offered a test drive in that condition. Used?

Ahh, I missed that part. So luckily it should be sold as "new" with a full factory warranty?
I believe they will fix the issues and then sell it with warranty! But I feel hesitant with jus how terrible it felt haha :( drive an M2 comp to compare it felt way more linear buttttt somehow more boring in handling

Let them fix it and then go back for another test-drive. Luckily, modern cars are quite smart and protect themselves so no damage is done, for these exact scenarios.

As a reminder, the dealership has zero control over the warranty coverage, that is 100% on the manufacturer. You will want to ask if it's every been titled, and if so, what that original in-service date was.

By cold, I meant the transmission not being up to temp. My bad. When it's actually cold (below 50F), the lurching and sluggishness gets noticeably worse. When it's above that temp and I'm cold starting the car, the transmission is slow but not overtly sluggish.
