Is anyone driving their Z in the cold and snow? How's it handling? What tires are you running?

I still have the summer potenzas and they are awful below around 40 degrees. I only took it out on 40+ degree days and if the roads were salt free, which is never right now.

See plenty of Miatas, Mustangs, GR86's, Camaro's... etc. on the road here no matter the weather. Right now its cold and roads are white with salt. I am debating getting better tires and driving mine more often in the cold. The cold doesn't bother me but I know these stock tires don't like it.

Like everyone else is saying the salt bothers me too. If roads are dry though... I didn't buy this thing not to drive it :) I just want to be more safe so getting better tires before I drive more often in the winter is on the list.

So I daily mine. I am running the continental DWS 06s. We just had some snow here in MD and the Z handled just fine. Now I wasn't trying to race nobody or be stupid so really haven't pushed the car with those tires. But so far to me they are night and day over stock. I am also lowered and have a bunch of suspension upgrades. To combat the salt I drive thru a touchless car wash mainly for the undercarriage wash. As soon as the weather permits I will do an undercarriage detail. I agree I didnt spend all this money for it to sit in the garage.

No problem with the cold temps & stock tires - no worst than summer. I’ll take all the cold weather i can get.

we just got .5-1ā€ of sleet / ice and now I’m dealing with salt brine here in the Deep South so I’m down until the we get a good rain to clear the salt off the roads. weather girl forecasting 2-4ā€ of real snow this weekend, and back in the 60’s the next weekend.

so i maybe down for a few weeks because of the salt…

d@mn global warming - lol

Switch to all season tires and drive as much as you like all year. Just be easy on the go paddle.

I guess it depends where you live. In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada it wouldn’t matter what tires you put on your Z, it wouldn’t be going anywhere. I drive my Xterra in the Winter.
