Smart move to those that are holding off on mods until the warranty expires. A number of the 2021 Supra with the new B58D are reported to have oil consumption issues. I'm not saying that the Z will have the same issues, but you don't want to give them any reason to void your warranty.

The funny part is a bunch of 2020 Zupra owners were so butthurt when the 2021 model was announced. Now with all the issues the 2021s are having they're acting like their car was the shit from the get-go.
lololol....
BMW Oil Consumption
BMW engines are designed to consume some oil and there are factory-authorized guidelines for how much is considered normal. In order for the oil to reach critical areas it's normal for some of it to make it's way into the combustion chamber and be burned up with the air/fuel mixture. If your BMW engine is consuming/burning oil, do not panic. It could be normal operation. Side note: Leaks and consumption are not the same thing. Oil leaks may also be a "normal" fact of BMW life but they should still be properly repaired or diagnosed. Below is a table outlining accepted oil consumption for BMW engines (data is from BMW).
Every oil change on a brand new car? I know of this typically being done to prevent rod bearing failure on say the S65. On the N54 rod bearing failure is extremely rare, but some of us have an oil analysis done later in the car's life just to be sure. Recommending an oil analysis every oil change on a B58 is hilarious.I recommend everyone do a Blackstone oil analysis at every oil change. For just $30 it can offer a wealth of data about your engine. The analysis can be used for early detection on catastrophic failure. Or just peace of mind that everything is OK.
the funny thing is that toyota was bragging about them testing and inspecting every part for the zupr4 to make sure it passed their stringent qc process. how do you miss an engine guzzling oil like that? This part gave me a good laugh:

Yes, leaking oil on BMW's turbo 6's is a "normal" part of BMW life, but it really shouldn't be. There's no excuse for it as prematurely as it happens, as it has been a known issue since at least the N54 (2007). Valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket both leak/need to be replaced within 50k miles at best. I've probably waited 50k to replace them, but they were leaking well before. Oil pan and rear main seal usually last longer. What have they been doing over there for the last decade+ besides realizing an electric water pump was a bad idea and switching back to mechanical?
My N54 is closing in on 140k miles and I beat the piss out of it daily. It uses/leaks 1 qt. of oil every 2,500 miles consistently, which is not bad for it's age, and given that the rear main and oil pan gasket are the primary cause. They are talking about practically brand new motors with similar or worse issues.
The reality is that once you know the schedule and when properly maintained, the car is an absolute joy to drive, but the fact that there's that much maintenance involved due to gaskets or other parts wearing prematurely that should not, even on a tuned car, is ridiculous. I really haven't paid a ton of attention to the B58, but I guess I gave them too much of the benefit of the doubt that they would have fixed the same issues that plague every iteration.
Many of the issues in that thread are far from "normal", even by BMW standards, or lack thereof.
louvers are a fickle thing....looks great on some cars...looks horrid on others.Anyone thinking louvers might look great on this design? Especially on a two tone?
I'm thinking louvers could look really sweet on this car. And if rear visibility is as poor as I think it might be already, I might as well make it worse. Plus you don't need to worry about what's behind you if you've got your foot on the floorAnyone thinking louvers might look great on this design? Especially on a two tone?![]()
As a mum, all I can see is a dirt traplouvers are a fickle thing....looks great on some cars...looks horrid on others.
im open to see how it would turn out. louvers are kinda retro....sorta like this new z...it could work
