I installed my sub in January, but I've been holding off on this until now due to just having the ASE turned off. I'll probably miss a few things, but I'll go through everything I can remember.
My mate who used to be a professional installer helped me with the wiring, so I'll answer what I can if I can.

Sub is a Kenwood - Powered 10". I've seen identical looking US branded ones, so assuming equivalent to them. Direct swap in the OEM location, and I used the OEM retaining bolt, not the one that came with the sub.

Wired directly to the battery for main power, and everything else just off the loom that came with the sub. It had 4x inputs for signal, which he just spliced directly off the OEM Sub cable. I left the pin connector in case I ever put the OEM one back on.
Now I've read that there is a low-pass filter through these, and the middle dial on the controller (for frequency adjustment) cuts out the sound completely when I dial it towards the low frequency range, so I'd say that's something to figure out.
I mostly listen to metal/rock so I'm not too fussed at the minute.

Controller tucked in next to the console. Not the best access, but nicely tucked away. I'll probably never use it again once I have it dialled in.

Now the big one.
ASE - Holy shit, this thing was completely unusable. I turned the gain to 0 every time I drove it because of how bad the rumbling was.
Drove 20min home this afternoon from the dealer after they turned it off, and am really happy with the sound overall. Again, there's probably a low-pass issue, and a better way to wire it, but unless there's an easy fix I'll probably be happy with this for a long time.

ANC - I honestly can't tell a difference, and I'm not sure if this ever worked at all, but it's off now regardless.

Side note, which I've never seen mentioned is that they told me if I ever disconnect the battery, they will both come back on by default, which is Incredibly annoying. Next time I want to do any work I'll just have to plan it around my next service..

I also disconnected the little speaker above the clutch pedal that someone in here posted about a few weeks ago, and couldn't tell a difference one way or the other.

What is the little speaker for, ASE/ANC?
Not confirmed, but that's the assumption. I couldn't remember what thread it was, but there were a few comments about it in here a while ago. It's definitely nothing to do with the sound system.

Also not confirmed, but as I understand it that small speaker in the footwell is for ASE, and ANC uses the other audio speakers including the subwoofer.

I noticed that with the aftermarket sub, would go on a gradually increasing hum with the engine at idle, which I believe was the ANC trying to counteract the noise the sub was making with the other speakers lol.
I couldn't imagine that speaker could be for anything other than the ASE. If it were anything to do with the alarm, or "safety" beeps/alerts, I would think you would get warning lights on the dash for having it disconnected.

I disconnected mine last night and feel like I hear the natural car growl better. The sound comes from the rear of the car more for me.

It would make sense that this one makes "engine" sounds, and the sub makes "exhaust" sounds.
Is your car stock? I've got a catback, so there's probably less of a difference with/without.

All stock still, just hit 5800 miles this morning.

Tested this, it is the lane departure, cross traffic, parking sensor, etc warning speaker.

Odd, all of that is working for me still.

There is a 2 lane 85 degree curve on the way to work ... posted speed is 35. I have been testing the entry to it as I still get used to the car/tire/grip ... this morning it was ~70 mph while crossing lanes and no tire squeal.
Drive it like you stole it!
